I've been sharing the other images I photoshopped and cleaned up from 1976...so here's another round with our destination today of Adventureland.

Hope you enjoy!

Neat, my sister and I have a picture of us with the orange bird too. I think ours is from the early 1980's though. Wouldn't it be fun if he came out for some meet and greets now?

I've been waiting for that to happen! I'm guessing since the Orange Bird was the Florida Orange Juice mascot they are hesitant to bring him out?? But then they are selling t-shirts and other souvenir items with him.

I enjoyed, thank you, it brought back memories of a different, far more lovable and escapistic AL in the 1980s, where there were still steeldrum bands playing in Caribbean Plaza (and no PotC gift shop filling the entire area) water fountains running all over the place (removed and filled with flowers, cheaper to maintain), the AL plaza in front of the Tiki Room (where the Barker Bird invited you into the Tiki Room - Aloha) was a wide open space where you could inhale the atmosphere of the place and it's perfect theming and where today you have a congested, loud and annoying nightmare due to a cheap carnival ride (Magic Carpets) that doesn't not only fit into the theming at all (the tiny-winy Aggrabah area only worsens the situation) but also spoiled the entire atmosphere of the location.

I find myself torn between the WDW of the 70's-80's and the WDW of today. There was a lot of charm in the earlier version of the Magic Kingdom that has slipped away a little bit. There were areas off the beaten path to discover that seem to be gone today.

The whole Adventureland area just screams outdated, opening day, rarely ever updated attractions with an exception being Pirates and Aladdin.. Like oh my god... Just... It's just so... Soooo niiiicceeeeee!

AL actually cries for something in the magnitude of Fire Mountain! (Or Indiana Jones Adventure if TDO want's to save money but expand AL), the last major addition was PotC in the 1970ies, can you believe it? And the only minor addition after PotCF actually worsened the situation (Magic Carpets).

That orange bird was EVERYWHERE in FL growing up. I saw that thing all over the place: Disney World, Turnpike billboards, Miami Dolphins games, commercials during Skipper Chuck. I was very little then and always looked for that crazy bird.
