Tigger Trial - NOT GUILTY

I just read an article in the local paper on the topic.

Disney has confirmed that Michael will get back pay for the time he was off his job as a result of the suspension.

The business agent for the Teamsters Local (who represent the character performers) stated that according to their current contract, Disney must "reinstate him and make him whole"

I hope his fiance comes crawling back too and when she does, he tells her to turn around and shut the door behind her.

I mean where is the support? If my fiance was accused of something, i'd stick by her no matter what. Only if she was found guilty of such a terrible thing would I then walk away.

You've got it backwards. Statements made in a judicial proceeding are public record (and transcripts are often available to those with the research tools to get them). Well, most statements are. The ones that are "privileged" are statements made (in privacy) to one's attorney, etc.

Timekeeper

Sorry I wasn't clear about that. You are correct that statements made in private to one's attorney, doctor, etc. are privileged. In addition, however, there is a judicial privilege which applies to legal proceedings. Any statements made in those proceedings, while public record, are privileged in the sense that they cannot form the basis for a later civil action. So if the kid lied about the fondling (and it can be proven), there cannot be a slander case. There can, however, be a malicious prosecution case (which is causing a prosecution to go forward with knowledge of lack of probable cause). But again, this depends on being able to prove the girl was lying.

Thanks for clearifying.

Well done to Disney for doing the right thing. :sohappy:

I question whether or not Disney did "the right thing" from the beginning of this whole issue. Seems like they're trying to "make up" at this point because what happens next is still public interest, and thus a PR issue for Disney.

I think others would agree that Disney didn't exactly "support" their CM during this case.

I agree that Disney didnt fully support michael during this case. When i say that Disney are doing the right thing i mean that they are doin the right thing in giving him his job back.

Disney couldn't support him in the event he was found guilty (despite the extreme odds), lest they appear akin to the Catholic church, of whom I have no respect for after the priest incidents.

Disney did the right thing.

Unfortunatly they did not support him at first for fear he was proven guilty and there they would be supporting the guy. I guess it is similar to the old "the customer is always right" thing. It does not make it right but I think most companies would have done the same thing.
