Again, can we say GREEDY!? I think a lot of guests are getting fed up with the greediness of Disney in recent years. They are so greedy, they are charging their resort guests for parking, when it was included in the over-priced rooms...I read a lot of the guests were canceling their vacation to Disney and not returning because of all the nickel and diming and nothing to show for it, slow construction builds.
Hard to say people are getting fed up with the greed or Disney, when Disney keeps breaking attendance records and earnings keep rising

Except not. People are complaining but behavior isn't changing.
While a lot of people may not change I suspect some will. The new parking charge really makes me wonder just why you would stay at a Disney hotel anymore. In the past you could tell yourself that you were saving 20 a day on parking since it cost nothing to park at the parks if you are staying in their hotel... but if they are going to hit you with a 19 or 24 dollar a night fee you really aren't saving that much at all off parking in fact your getting hosed if you stay in a deluxe resort.

You've never stayed at Animal Kingdom Lodge before, have you? Saving money on theme park parking is 0% of the reason people stay on property, particularly the deluxes. It's about the experience, theming, the bubble, and proximity to the "magic."

Not much of a psychic. I've stayed at Animal Kingdom lodge, it wasn't worth the price by a long shot. The only way I justify a deluxe at WDW is if it is one of the monorail resorts. AK is just too far from everything and when we were there we saw more wild life driving on the highway than we ever saw in at AK.

I disagree, I'm not one to defend a company when its a full money grab, but In this particular example, it just doesn't fit. I don't think it makes business sense to lower the cost of park entry on days of ticketed events, nor should they pick days that people are less likely to be at the park.

There are corporations that are greedy, but on the flip side, a corporation protecting its profits is not greedy. Make no mistake, they are in existance to make a profit. If they cannot make a profit they disappear.

That's not even true. AKL is closer to Epcot, Hollywood Studios, and obviously Animal Kingdom than the monorail resorts and it's half the price. Have fun at the Knight's Inn on 192 but quit dumping on those of us who don't mind paying a bit extra for what we consider a special experience.

Believe what you want, but the reality is AKL to EPCOT is 5.8 miles, Poly to EPCOT is 3.9... AKL is closer to AK and Hollywood Studios but only if you have your own car if you use the godawful Disney buses you might as well be staying in another town. Our trip there started out as a no car trip until we had to wait nearly an hour for a bus which turned out trip into a rental car trip. In the end the distance to the parks is really means less than the time it takes to get from your resort to the parks and in that case AK is last to monorail resorts which give you options to ever park there. For AKL you have only one option - a bus. And if you were being honest and had actually been captive to the Disney buses you would know that they can rob you of an exorbitant amount of vacation time. It only took us one trip waiting near an hour to get to the park and having the joyous time of waiting one hour and forty five minutes to get a bus back from the park - I wait long enough for rides in the park the last thing I want to do is spend hours each day waiting for a bus. So if your idea of an experience is being trapped in a resort sequestered from the parks enjoy AKL.

Maybe its true when you are waiting for a ride you can't find anywhere else... but I can go to the local greyhoud bus terminal and get a bus and finish the trip in the time it takes to get on a Disney bus.

We’ve had that experience on Disney buses and we were not staying at AKL, so it’s not just isolated to AKL. IMO, it’s an issue Disney has with there transportation and we no longer will rely on their “free” transportation. Time is money in our family and we would rather rent a car regardless of where we are staying (monorail line or not)
