Ticket Question

I purchased a free dining package for my next trip. It requires a two day base ticket, at least. I plan on going again within a year. I am aware base tickets can be upgraded to AP's, as I have done this before. Once I get there, I would like to go ahead and upgrade the 2 day base to an AP right away, but that card will have all my dining credits on it. Has anyone done this before? Can they "erase" the base tickets off the card and issue the paper AP?

In short, yes. I have done this a few times myself and what they will do is issue you a paper AP and your dining credits will remain on your room key. You will however want to tell the CM that there are dining credits on your room key to avoid them accidentally going bye-bye.

An AP can't be coded onto a Key To The World card anyway, so they'd have to put the AP onto AP media. But yes, there have been many reports of problems when m__________g around with KTTW card-based tickets when the guest also has Disney Dining Plan credits on there.

BUT WAIT! For this current trip, are you going to use only 2 park days, total? If so, there's a very easy answer for you. Use up both park days from the ticket, use up all your dining credits, and then before you leave your last park on the last day of your trip, THAT is when you should upgrade to the AP. [Even if all the entitlements are used up from a ticket, you can still upgrade that ticket as long as it's within 14 days from the first use of that ticket.]

Just be careful, you can't upgrade to an AP at your resort, it can only be done at a park (theme park OR water park) or the Transportation & Ticket Center or at Downtown Disney's guest relations location.
