Ticket exchange

Hi,

This is my first post on your site, but I've been reading your very informative topics for awhile.

We have a WDW trip planned for Dec. 13. Will be staying at the Contemporary on the MYW plus Dining package. We bought the minimum required one day base park ticket for myself, DH and DD, since DH and I each have 6 days remaining on tickets from our last trip. Will need to purchase 3 day park hopper for DD.

My question is: Will guest services allow us to credit the one day ticket from the package toward a 4 day park pass? If so, could we use all three one day tickets toward DD's ticket or just her one day ticket?

Hope that makes sense. Thanks.

Thanks.

While I can't answer your question, you deserve a proper welcome to the boards.

I lurked here for 1-2 years before I finally registered and still don't post much since the guys/gals around here have usually answered my questions in previous posts.

I am sure the knowledgeable folks around here will have an answer for you in no time.

Enjoy!!! and Welcome!

Once you arrive you may individually upgrade each guest's tickets. Since your DD has a 1 day ticket, you will be able to upgrade just her ticket to a 4 day ticket. Note, as a 1 day ticket is sold without an advance purchase savings, you will not be able to apply the value of this ticket to the advance savings price of a 4 day ticket, you would apply it to the full current gate price.

All Disney Ticket media is non-refundable, non-transferable, and tickets sold on vacation packages will be in the name of the Guest the ticket is issued to. As a result you will not be able to combine multiple tickets of different Guests onto a single ticket.

JP's right [of course]. What you could do, and it makes the most financial sense if you can afford it, is upgrade DD's ticket to a seven-day hopper with no expire option. That way all three of you would have the same number of days' admissions for future trips. the more days you buy, the cheaper overall the tickets would be.

You don't indicate how old DD is, so:

If she's under 10, a three-day hopper for your next trip [to bring her in line with the remaining three days you both have] would cost $218.34. If you buy an upgrade to her one-day in your package for just this trip, it would cost $226.84 less whatever credit you get for the current one-day ticket. If you upgrade her to a 7-day hopper with no expire option, it would cost $328.02 less whatever credit you get for the one-day.

So if you buy tickets separately for both trips, you'll pay $445.18 [less the credit] total for admissions over two trips. If you upgrade her one-day to match what you've already got for yourselves, it'll cost $328.02 [less the credit] for the same number of admissions. A savings of $117.16 if you can afford to cover it all now.

If she's 10+, the 7-day hopper with no expire costs 367.43, the 3-day hopper costs $252.42 and the upgrade to four-day for this trip costs $263.08. Using the same calculations as above, the savings would be $148.07 by upgrading her to a 7-day hopper no expire.

All of the above is based on today's ticket pricing, if the prices go up before you go back again, the savings by getting her the no expire 7-day hopper would be even higher.

Thanks for all the information and options!! We'll have to decide about buying the 7-day or not for DD who is 4, BTW. About $100 more upfront, I guess.

That was our thinking before our April '05 trip when DH and I bought the 10-day hopper passes w/no expir. - that it would save us $ over time. However, this is our first time doing a package and having to buy the minimum admission kind of threw us for a loop at first. After this Dec. trip our next trip will probably not be until Spring '09, when our 15 month old will be 3 1/2 and therefore require a ticket, too.

Either way I still think we'll come out ahead this time since we'll save $ on dining. (It always aggravated me in the past having to shell out SO much for the average food at WDW, so I think I will like not having to look at the menu prices!!)

Thanks again
