So I thought i'd start this thread on the TTC mostly as a history lesson to explain what areas were used for in days gone by, or even today.
I often tell my kids, look this is virtually then same as when the place opened. Wherever we are in the parks, for places I know that haven't changed or changed much. This place here looks like it was stuck in a time capsule and just opened.Fun thread idea. I had always assumed this used to be some sort of free picnic area with tables for those that brought their own food. No clue though!
AFAIK it was a guest waiting area for watercraft, despite ferrys not originally being offered to reach the park. It is 1971 vintage.
I do recall on my 2014 November trip this being used..You can see that there are looped hooks on the poles as they can be roped up for queues which was used while I was there...
Yes. I have seen it where it has been used recently as queue space. Especially on those crazy days where the entire plaza is one big queue practically.I do recall on my 2014 November trip this being used..You can see that there are looped hooks on the poles as they can be roped up for queues which was used while I was there...
I don't remember it being anything other then what you see now, for as long as I have been going there. I used it to get out of a Florida evening storm back in 2008, but, I remember it being just the way you see it for years. I always thought it was from back when they had the side wheeler's going across Seven Seas Lagoon. But, that was just a thought, I really have no idea.So here's a start.
These pics taken back in Early Sept of this year show a waiting area on the North end of the building nearest Polynesian Resort on the West side of TTC. To me it looks to be some sort of queue area Perhaps an extended queue for the Ferry Boats or Monorails. Any ideas of thoughts. Maybe even the real reason it was built.

That was my initial thought, but the canopy at the edge of the dock was also there in 1971 too. I can only assume it was an overflow / inclement weather shelter.I always thought it was from back when they had the side wheeler's going across Seven Seas Lagoon. Seems like it would have been a perfect spot for a restroom and they forgot to put the doors in. Or maybe a shelter for tour groups waiting for their transportation, but, it seem like it would have been a little off, location wise. Somebody must know... If you don't then I am at a loss. I do know that as I passed by it, I always have wondered what the purpose was. That was my initial thought, but the canopy at the edge of the dock was also there in 1971 too. Funny thing, to the left of the picture are the west side TTC Restrooms. Up against the wall of this location. And beside those restrooms are CM break areas, etc.Seems like it would have been a perfect spot for a restroom and they forgot to put the doors in.
