The first pictures of today's premiere show are coming in. Thanks to Mac Daddy who made it out to the parks early this morning and is currently uploading his photos - see them in this thread:

http://micechat.com/forums/disneyland-resort/126756-photo-update-tianas-showboat-jubilee.html

I took over 600 shots this morning, so it's taking awhile to upload. In the mean time, the show was VERY well received from where I was standing, and I think folks are going to enjoy this show very much. The Mardi-gras parade starts from somewhere back toward the court of Angels and comes up around the parosol stand and down through the upper level of the Fantasmic viewing area in NOS. If you stand up behind the rail, the performers, including Tiana, will walk right by you.

The parade then moves up along the river to the Mark Twain dock where all of the performers board, including Louis the Alligator. I think the Mardi-Gras tune during the parade is my favorite. I thought all of the music was great, and that Randy Newman did a fantastic job. The Mark Twain then pulls around directly in front of the Fantasmic viewing area as the music continues.

The girl they found for Tiana is absolutely amazing. What a talent. I think she was singing live along with the track, and holy cow. What a voice.

One of the cool things, from what I understood from conversations around me, is that they select some of the regular guests from the park to be performers on board. They all get yellow choir robes and a tambourine! I think that would be such a blast. I wonder how they go about selecting them?

I didn't notice too many Disney execs from where I was. I saw a ton of Disney entertainment folks around, but I didn't notice the new president, although he may have been in the crowd.

Half of my photos are in....only 200 more to go.... :whistling:...

Al Lutz at Miceage has this news on it...

"Tiana's Showboat Jubilee is now performing four times per day at Disneyland, and the initial reaction has been very positive. Iger watched an afternoon performance on Friday with a big smile on his face, while the core animation team for the film performed on the Mark Twain incognito as tourists with tambourines."

I love the idea of the animators and bigwigs on the film being on the boat as "tourists" doing the tambourine gig! It makes sense now, since I was at that 4:15 show and saw Iger smiling and laughing at the people on the boat... because he knew that was the team that created the movie!

What a fun thing to happen at Disneyland! :sohappy:

Laughingplace now has pictures up from this afternoon of John Lasseter and his family in Tiana's Showboat Jubilee doing the audience participation gig. Hilarious!

This is Mr. Lasseter as the Mark Twain leaves the dock and the show begins.

It seems this weekend was a big executive pow-wow for Disneyland. Bob Iger and John Lasseter and the creative team for Princess and the Frog all watching and participating in Tiana's Showboat Jubilee, in between playing at Disneyland.

How neat that all the top brass from Burbank came down to Disneyland this weekend to kick off this great new Tiana show!

A few news worthy items

I'v heard the Captain is voiced by Peter Renaday, who also played Henry from CBJ.

The ghost things now have some yellow/gold highlights-

At the 4:15 show a Fantasmic! lighting rig was up lighting up the show. Thank you Fantasmic!

I've passed by the show and thought it was neat. The music is really catchy. But if you get the chance to perform, DO IT!!!

I just got back from DL. My sister and I got chosen to perform. We went all out singing and dancing along. It was the best experience I've ever had at Disneyland in all my years. Wow. I'll never forget it. So much fun.

saw the show yesterday and loved it. loved the procession leading up to the mark twain dock - everything was just fun. i hope it sticks around longer once the roa comes back from its rehab.

any tips on how to get chosen? i'd love to participate. i heard they choose people that are near the potc area?

Two performers hang out in front of the Mark Twain loading dock. They just go up to random people that are in the area. One of them walked past us and didn't do anything, so I went up to him and asked if we could be in it. He said yeah and that was it! Good luck! :)
