Tiana's Bayou Adventure: Disneyland Watch & Discussion

So, I'll admit at first I wasn't too crazy about the name. But when I remember that this overlay is about to convert Critter Country into a sort of "Critter Fantasyland" (Princess and the Frog/Winnie the Pooh), it feels a little bit natural. While at first the name seems out of place (since we're so used to Splash Mountain), when you think of the new land and the attraction name in the aforementioned context, it seems like they were continuing the trend that Fantasyland has already established:

Peter Pan's Flight
Mr. Toad's Wild Ride
Pinocchio's Daring Journey
Snow White's Enchanted Wish
Tiana's Bayou Adventure

It'll take some time for me to get used to the new name, most definitely but I'm still very interested in seeing more from this transformation. Princess and the Frog is an awesome film with great music so it's not like it can't be something wonderful. Late 2024 is a ways away so I doubt we'll get any visual updates from inside the mountain for a while. Until then, I remain cautiously optimistic. Hopeful? My fingers are crossed because given the ride's location, they really are set up for a home run in Disneyland if they do this properly.

Now that you mention it and I think about it, you're right.

Friends/Family: What should we ride next?

Me: How about Snow White?

Chris Hansen, appearing from backstage: Why don't you take a seat right over there?
Exactly. People have simply referred to Splash Mountain as simply “Splash” in this very thread many times. “Indy,” “Peter Pan,” “Nemo Subs”… When have you ever heard folks mostly saying “the Storybook Land Canal Boats?” Lol.

Just tired of the laziness and lack of creativity. It's the same format as Remy's Ratatouille Adventure, which is painful. At least Cosmic Rewind sounds pretty cool, and Mickey & Minnie's Runaway Railway has some catchy alliteration. Rise of the Resistance is cinematic, in the Star Wars tradition. Tiana's Bayou Adventure sounds like Chapek himself coined it.

On a positive note, late-2024 is a promising ETA. Did they specify when the attractions might close? Closing in late-2022 would give them a considerable timeline for construction, suggesting meaningful changes/upgrades.

If you go to the movies, you don't ask for a ticket to 'Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness'; you just say 'Doctor Strange.'
I don't think the official name is vital in these situations.

This is truly idiotic.... “Splash Mountain” is one of the most iconic brands of any theme park and has nothing to do with song of the south. Remove the characters and storyline if needed but changing the name?

They might as well change Tower of Terror to a modern theme based on Marvel.

Disney is crazy. :p

The name doesn’t bother me and I’m not mad at the research they’re doing for this attraction. This actually didn’t sound like pandering to me. Their homework seems genuine.

Say your goodbyes.
I knew the name was gonna be corny, bit it's not as bad as I thought. It doesn't have enchanted or magical so that's a start.

I am more offended by that "art." Who is on this graphics team?!

I'd be up for that part of Critter Country to get a bayou look and a new theme. But what about Pooh?
I was just thinking about this too. Sadly, they probably won't retheme Critter Country and we will have the remnents and reminders of what once was surrounding a shoehorned overlay. I'm not counting on the overall land theming to be consistent.

If you read the article I posted above, her theater background is in lighting and projection. She was also the lead for M&MRR which is a projection-based attraction. I expect a lot of projections.

Exactly; this ride basically has the same nomenclature as Ariel's Undersea Adventure anyway, which I shorten to Ariel.
Or some simply call it Mermaid, which is not even in the name.

Ultimately guests will find a shortened or alternative name for this too, which as has been said will likely be "Tiana", especially by younger guests, but assume it will still simply be called Splash by most older guests.
