I mean considering no one might be watching Win Or Lose on Disney+ except me, it is no surprise that animation studios are going back to making movies for theaters over series.

But, didn’t Win Or Lose already started trending on Disney+?

I think it has to do mostly with financial metrics of animated streaming series. I wouldn’t be surprised if Dream Productions did not meet their expectations. And that was great and frankly better than the sequel movie.

They probably looked at whether they could get a movie out of it instead and decided they could not at the price.

Indeed. Captain America 4 was originally a series and they converted it to a theatrical release movie. So, it's not just animation.

I still say they went the wrong direction with the franchise; F&WS should have been Captain America 4.
“Brave New World” would also have been a fitting title, since the story arc focused on the disruptions caused not only by the sudden return of half the worlds population, but also Sharon running around selling an impure version of super soldier serum to the highest bidders.

Plus Sam and Bucky finding themselves teamed with a man who would have gladly murdered both of them only a few years earlier and is easily one of the best developed villains that the MCU has produced.

That’s funny, I kind of enjoyed Dream Productions! Well, I guess that’s the end of long form series. Not Disney entirely! Just the long short form series.

I imagine this has something to do with the move away from DEI, though I could be mistaken.

Backing off on DEI initiatives may be part of the reason…. However this was also announced at a time when Disney was going all in on streaming content…. They seam to be backing off on that stance quite a bit lately

What they need to do is let DTVA develop something for Tiana with low quality animation like Tangled the series.

Totally agree, I love shows like Tangled, or the Jurassic park cartoons on Netflix, they aren’t high art but they are entertaining and fun stories to watch.

Tiana would be great source material for a bunch of reasonably priced shorts… especially if they brought Facilier back and she foiled his evil plots in different scenarios.

If it makes you feel better, Disney will still keep some DEI practices, it's the Reimagine Tomorrow that has to go. Anyway, even though I'm disappointed that Tiana is cancelled, I think a special will be better than nothing. So, at least we have something looking forward to in the next few years.

But they made a bit point about how this was going to be (one of?) the first TV series produced by WDAS, and hence of a higher general quality than DTVA.

But it’s trending #3 worldwide.

I think this just proves they never had an idea or concept for the Tiana show, or the ride, and they could at least scrap the show, even if it was too far to rethink the ride.

I think the show was used to help sell the idea of the ride. That it was part of a broader effort to make a franchise out of Princess and the Frog (which had no follow up content after the original) and have synergy across the company.

Did they also cancel the jodhpur wearing walk-around character? I didn't see a single pair of jodhpurs at my front door this past Halloween. Did they give up too soon? Or are they cutting their losses and admitting this didn't work?

I never got my picture taken with this Princess sporty bayou adventurer dressed in hard-wearing casual separates and who happily gave her lifelong dream of a woman owned business over to an employee owned cooperative. In a salt mine.

Several things from several studios were cancelled. Only one because of baggy pants.

What a well thought out and articulate public statement, expresses disappointment, thanks the people involved, and asks fans to support the event to encourage a sequel.

No blame game, no alienation of potential audience, this is how you gain fans and get people to support your project.

Tiana is a great character, hopefully the special event is popular and leads to another chance at a show.

It’s being turned into a special.

The short-form special is actually something separate from Tiana’s series and is in “early development” as we speak, so hopefully it will be hand-drawn animated this time.
