I have heard that thunder mountain is to undergo a major rehab.
Can anyone tell me when it is due to start and when it is due to finish.
It is one of our favourite rides especailly at night when the lines are short and you can stay on .

By the way, are the smoke stacks back?

As of last week....no :(. Let us hope this rehab includes the
stacks!

Edit: sorry, I usually like to give credit for photos that do not belong to me. This picture came from www.screamscape.com :)

Apparently this is the new look for the lead car

Ok...then this makes NO sense...what do these mine cars run on??? It is a steam engine...so where does the steam escape???

(Ok, sure, the average person probably wouldn't even CARE about this...but it takes away from the "theming" and fluidness of the attraction)

Someone on another thread said it was temporary. One of them was damaged, so they took them all out to inspect and refurb. (at least, that's what the guy said...)

Indeed, you are correct. There was a safety issue at stake, and Safety comes before Show...

They will be back... don't know when, but they will be back.

well yes and no....... Themeaticaly it doesnt seem to make sense on what propels the cars but realisticaly they are pulled up a hill and run on gravity.

BTMRR works like any traditional chain lift roller coaster, it just has 100 times the theming of any other roller coaster. The smoke stacks were just for show. The entire ride is controlled by a computer inside the main mountain that monitors the location of each train to avoid any kind of accident. I remember going there for Grad Night many years ago (there was no Splash Mountain yet) and riding BTMRR 3 times in a row because the ride kept shutting down. They then had to remove each train from the track and reload them lift by lift. It was neat.
