Sorry for trying to help. And sorry for posting this "non-existant" and "unsubstantiated" information I received from a senior Frontierland Cast Member Attractions trainer yesterday.

How apparent I was wrong. :lookaroun

If there is one thing you can be sure of its that a a senior frontline cast member (even a trainer) is not typically in the loop of people that would receive accurate and timely information of this kind.

For example, in the last three weeks I have been told by senior frontline trainers that Disney is purchasing one make and model of new bus. Other people in the exact same position have informed me that we are purchasing an entirely different make and model new bus.

Who has the correct information? People who are several levels above these cast members. They are the only people who will know for sure until an official announcement is made. Disney is very good at making sure only information they want to be spread around as rumor makes it to frontline cast members. If it is sensitive information, asin the case of Thunder Mountain, no one will know the truth until the lawyers and engineers are satisfied it is the "correct truth".

considering BTMRR in disneyland was built years before the WDW one.. I doubt they have enough in common to warrant closing the one in WDW..

The ride systems are probably totally different.

For the Record

For the record -

What the news said when the crash happened (big news here in so cal), was that the Toyko one is being closed as well becuase the ride is a replica of the Disneyland one and they aren't sure what caused the uncoupling of the car in the first place (did the car uncouple due to some malfunction with the track or is it the car or what?).

As stated on the DL, MK comparison boards, Big Thunder in MK is a far cry from the one in Disneyland. The rides are completely different.

Also, add to the mix that the DL one is nearly 50 years old and the MK is what, 1/2 that age?

I don't think the closure has anything to do with that accident. Maybe some paint just didn't dry on schedule or they are giving it a couple new test runs, adding some trains.. could be anything.

And also, for the record, being an annual pass holder for DL, I DO STILL PLAN ON RIDING IT when it reopens.

THe last accident (Roger Rabbit's Cartoon spin) had that attraction down for over a year, so it wouldn't suprise me if Big Thunder in Disneyland is down for that long either!

 Lady-- Was any news on what happend to the DL/BTM ride ever published? We heard about it the first few days and then nothing? Just wondered.

Yep, I am going next time I go also!! My favorite ride--the WDW was all ready closed for updating/paint/etc., when you had the accident in DL. If my ole--- mind remembers right.

A little thread drift-- Sorry, Just wondered? I always wanted to ask. Do you have the same Annual and seasonal pass' ?? Same ?? as we do?--? Too bad we can not use the same ones both places Ummmmmmm like the old ticket books. Opps, Dating myself.:lookaroun

DL BTMRR = 26 years old
WDW BTMRR = 23 years old

From my info, the extension of the rehab has nothing to do with the incident at DL.
The rehab just needs a few more days.

BTMRR is open in both Tokyo and Paris. Safety is not a factor at any park other than DL.

Actually DL and WDW BTM's are almost identical ride systems. It's Tokyo and Paris that are completly different.

I understand the paris version had imagineer's full attention and everything from the track to the scenery was designed by them!

But what about the RIDE SYSTEM. Not the actual track layout or layout of the ride itself. I'm talking about the RIDE SYSTEM. They are almost identical.

Everyone is entitled to their opinions. Opinions will differ based on whether you are observing the situation from the inside or the outside.

Stating something as a fact however puts you in a different position. You must be able to cite realiable sources as the basis for your statement and conclusions. It is not uncommon for someone to then question the reliability of those resources based on additional data.

My point behind my post was simply to point out that the sources may need to be examined for reliability. Further, we don't need to draw conclusions. Especially when the official cause of the Disneyland incident has yet to determined. All we know at this point is a wheel assembly came off and investigators are still trying to determine the root cause. http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tm.../disneylandsrideupkeepcriticizedbyparkworkers

Does it have anything to do with california's
crash?
Contrary to some reports that circulated, the rehab of BTM had NOTHING to do with the incident in California. The rehab had been on the schedule (and Disney.Com) many weeks prior to the accident on the west coast.

Don't know anything about the delayed reopening, there may be further safety issues to be addressed that were added to the rehab after the accident though, that would not surprise me.
