Passholders: Three-months-free deal good through Aug. 2010

Good news for annual passholders: Disney has extended the 3-month-free renewal deal.

When I first heard about the three free months for renewing Disney annual passholders, I was elated. Then when I heard that the deal would end Dec. 31, I was discouraged: My pass doesn’t need renewing until March. Then when I asked Disney if I could pay for my pass early to take advantage of the deal — and they said they didn’t want my money early! — I was furious.
How can a special passholder be available only to passholders whose passes expire at a certain time? What kind of fairness is that?
But apparently, Disney has seen the light. If you’ve been to the annual-pass site lately, you’ll notice the main welcome message now states the three-months-free deal is valid until Aug. 31, 2010. When you renew your pass before then and pay for the usual 12 months, you will actually get 15 months of admission. (Note this is not applicable to the Epcot after-4 pass).
There still seems to be some mixed messages out there. My latest issue of AAA’s “Going Places” magazine arrived with a full-page back-cover ad still noting the December date, but I’m sure that magazine went to press weeks ago.
More curious: Certain places on the Disney Web site still tout the Dec. 31 date, but I am trusting the passholder site. Letting all passholders take advantage of this deal is not only a smart move by Disney, it’s the only fair thing to do.

Thank you for the article.

(Too bad that they won't give you the three free months 30 days after your ticket expires as well.)

Are you sure that it HAS been?? I don’t think so… But whatever

Here is more info from the Passholder site:
Relive your most magical Walt Disney World memories and create new ones. From now to August 31, 2010, simply renew by your anniversary date, or up to 30 days after, so you can lock in your 15 months. Your renewal expires 15 months after your original anniversary date, so don't miss out on the magic—renew today!

Yup. Positive. It's been discussed already in several topics. Like this one from October 16th just as one example - http://forums.wdwmagic.com/showthread.php?t=503286 (Oh and another from September: here)

Since when has this been good for new passes? We bought our APs on August 12th and ours expire August 12th, 2010.
Florida Residents who buy AP's through the end of the year get the same three month promo as renewals. It's not valid for non-FL residents buying a new AP. (Renewal extra months are for both FL resident or Non-FL resident; it doesn't matter.)

It that was offered last year it would of really worked out for me. This past sept trip was from last years annual pass, so I was not planning on getting another until my next trip later next year.

I renewed my annual pass in May 2009. Does that mean that if I renew again by June 2010 that new pass will be good for 15 months?

What about my current pass since I renewed before they started the promotion. Do I retroactively get the extra 3 months?

I wasn't able to find any real good fine print on the passholder site the other day when I looked.

This seems like an attempt to get more local visits to WDW. With the addition of the weekday pass, does it seem like WDW is trying to appeal to more locals like DL? This seems like a good business move and it will increase maintenance and upkeep. These types of deals mean nothing but good for everyone.

I renewed my pass in May 2009 as well. It's currently valid through May 2010. Should I renew again in May 2010, that renewal would be good through August 2011.

It does NOT go retroactive as the program started in August 2009. But since it's set to stay in place through August 2010, on your next renewal, yes you will get the extra 3 months.

Can I renew ahead of time?

We will be going to WDW this week and would like to renew our passes to take advantage of the 3 month extension. Our passes don't expire until the first of week of December, but we will be out of town then.

Several questions: Can I renew them ahead, and if so what would the expiration data be, 3 months beyond the current expiration date or 3 months from the date I actually pay for the renewal?

Also, originally both my husband and myself purchased Florida Resident Seasonal Annual Passes. When my grandkids came this summer, I upgraded my pass to the Florida Resident Pass without the blackout dates. When we go to renew them, do we have to buy the same kind of pass that we now have? If we prefer to purchase the pass that is just for the weekdays, can we get a 3 month extension of those also?

Sorry for all the questions, but I can't find the answers to these on the official WDW pages.

Thanks so much,

Mary Lou

If I were to buy an annual pass now would I also get the three months free? I haven't had an annual pass since 2008

Yes, if you buy before Dec 31, 2009, NEW passholders get 15 months. Since yours has been expired for more than 30 days, you would be considered a new passholder.

Wait I thought that only FL residents got it with new APs and everyone else gets it with renewals...

That's correct.

NEW AP's must be a Florida resident to get the 15 months. Offer runs through December 31, 2009.

RENEWAL AP's are for FL resident -or- non-FL resident. Offer runs through August 31, 2010.

It's two separate promotions.

Um, it's been August 31, 2010 for renewals. It's only through December 31st for new passes.

This works for us. :sohappy:We are going before the end of the year and getting new APs. Our old ones expired last May.

Now I see if is only for FL residence APs. Oh well.

That's awsome. My bday is in November does that mean if I get the annual pass now I get the 15 months + a giftcard on my bday (since I wouldnt need the free ticket then)?
