Passholders: Three-months-free deal good through Aug. 2010

Good news for annual passholders: Disney has extended the 3-month-free renewal deal.
When I first heard about the three free months for renewing Disney annual passholders, I was elated. Then when I heard that the deal would end Dec. 31, I was discouraged: My pass doesn’t need renewing until March. Then when I asked Disney if I could pay for my pass early to take advantage of the deal — and they said they didn’t want my money early! — I was furious.
How can a special passholder be available only to passholders whose passes expire at a certain time? What kind of fairness is that?
But apparently, Disney has seen the light. If you’ve been to the annual-pass site lately, you’ll notice the main welcome message now states the three-months-free deal is valid until Aug. 31, 2010. When you renew your pass before then and pay for the usual 12 months, you will actually get 15 months of admission. (Note this is not applicable to the Epcot after-4 pass).
There still seems to be some mixed messages out there. My latest issue of AAA’s “Going Places” magazine arrived with a full-page back-cover ad still noting the December date, but I’m sure that magazine went to press weeks ago.
More curious: Certain places on the Disney Web site still tout the Dec. 31 date, but I am trusting the passholder site. Letting all passholders take advantage of this deal is not only a smart move by Disney, it’s the only fair thing to do.
