Three GREAT CMs

We just finished the most magical, as corny and cliched as that sounds, Disney vacation thus far, and I am being serious.

At Epcot, I met Kenan at Test Track and he is jsut a really cool guy, a great friend, and a super CM! Hats off to you buddy!

Also at Epcot, a Mission Space worker noticed my birthday hat, pulled me aside, and we started talking for a good 5 minutes. After the talk, she handed me 4 FPs for the ride when the wait was 180 minutes. We walked right on and absolutely loved the ride--I was wrong for doubting it!!! We went on 4 more times, all Fastpasses, throughout the trip, getting at Epcot at park opening.

But the BEST was a cast member who shall remain unnnamed who really did work magic. My dad has a picture from 1971 of him and Snow White on the steps of City Hall at MK. He wanted to get a reunion picture with her, and would ask at Guest Relations where Snow would be. He just happened to ask a CM on the street where Snow was, she asked to see the pic, and she said she'd make it happen. She told us to return at 245 after the parade, and we had a private roped off photo session with Snow White on the steps of City Hall to duplicate the picture with my dad and to take pictures with the family. It was AMAZING!! I thought magic like that was long gone, but NOT SO!! That CM gave us quite a memory and it was superb--a one in a lifetime thing!! Simply great!!

Thanks to all the great CMs and the great people on here for help in planning the trip!

PS--whoeever reccommended Ohana--that was superb!!! We had a window seat for Wishes and loved all the food and entertainment!!

B/c I don't want to give her name out and have it get pasted somewhere or have her get barraged and constantly asked to recreate pictures. She was not the average CM, but someone who held authority within the company--she travels with the characters and promotes all the new stuff too in other Disney parks over seas.

She is not famous, just to our family!!

You should write a letter to Guest Services and sing this CM's praises. Getting an attaboy from a Guest goes a long way to making their day.

Yup, we managed to get last names in addition to the first names b/c that CM went above and beyond anything we ever imagined! Of course we will write them!

Ohana was great, and Chef Mickey's, for my 21st birthday and first ever character meal, was so much fun!

Disney sure does have great cast members!

The CM's are great there. Our very first trip with our daughter, she was collecting the pins. Well, a cast member went up to her and asked if she wanted to trade a pin. She said yes and she chose minnie. Well, the CM said to her, "you can't have minnie without her mickey" and gave her both pins and he didn't even want one of hers(thanks John). We went to Chef Mickey's for our character breakfast and got a wonderful waitress named Linda. At the end of the meal I asked her if I could take her picture with my daughter. She was so thrilled, she said that no one had ever asked to take her picture before.

They were little things that these CM's did, but they were so appreciated.:sohappy:

I love it when CM's do things like this. There are a few out there who go above and beyond to make you feel good about yourself. They love the way it makes them feel too!

Here are a few things that happened to either me or friends:

My last visit to WDW was a year ago. I was alone on this trip and I met a lot of CM's. One of the CM's at my resort (All Star Music Resort) made a lasting impression on me. She was working a cash register in the food court. We became such good friends that my room was filled with balloons on my brithday while I was there!

Another time my friend was there last spring. She and some other guests were there for a conference at the Swan. They were allowed to go into MGM after the park was closed to ride ToT and RnR. CM's were all over the place running up to them asking for their autographs and taking pictures of them. THEY were treated as if THEY were the stars! This was her first time ever at WDW and she still talks about it.

Another time I was alone on a trip to WDW, a CM noticed I was sitting alone at one of the shows and came up to me and started talking to me. We became friends and after his shift was over, he gave me a guided tour of EPCOT with tons of information I never even knew about. He was able to get me limited addition pins, maps and other exciting things you would normaly get while there.

I made sure I wrote a letter to the casting office complementing their wonderful duties. They deserve to get rewarded for their efforts.

If you are lucky enough to have this happen to you, I would hope that you would commend them by writting a letter as well to the Casting Office. :sohappy:

A quesion for all of our CM friends.... I have always stopped to fill out those forms to compliment an especially good CM. What happens with them? Do you guys get them? Are they put in your file? If you get a certain amount is there a reward associated ( an extra day off, a free meal on property etc?) Belle

What great stories, and not a bit surprising! The overwhelming majority of CMs at WDW are outstanding. That's what makes the losers (i.e. Mark on Space Mountain) stand out as being so terrible.

Thanks for sharing this experience! Very cool!

I completely agree. The best way to give thanks is by writing a letter, I know for a fact it goes in their files and the CM's find out about the praise from Guests, nothing better than knowing you did a great job.

Oh yes, and all I have to say about Ohana is "Mmmmmm soooo goooooood!"

I almost always have awesome interactions with CMs and they never cease to impress me with their level of friendliness and great service. More often than not, though, it's not necessarily an interesting story such as the one that started this thread. Consequently, I don't write those compliment letters as often as I should because I don't necessarily know how to articulate what was so great about the experience. For example, a couple years ago I was at MGM and I was talking with this AWESOME CM named Nancy who was working in Mickey's of Hollywood. It was obvious that she loved her job and she was so personable. I was asking her about hidden Mickeys and she told me that if I could find the hidden Mickey in this one particular shop on Hollywood Blvd that they would give me a free pin. So after finding the hidden Mickey and getting my free pin I went back and chatted with her some more. She was great, but because I didn't really know how to explain in a letter how awesome that was, I ended up procrastinating and not sending the letter. I always felt bad about that, because she was definitely someone who deserved to be recognized. Any advice on a sort of standard or "form" letter to compliment CMs? For example, if I were to write a letter that simply said, "This CM was great", but didn't get into specifics, would the CM still get recognized?
