Thoughts on the Wishes dessert party

Just booked this last night for my girlfriend's birthday in July. Cost me $60 for both of us. Not cheap but every time we walk through Tomorrowland Terrace we always say we should do it. My big question is how early do you need to line up? I have a whole day of Disney related events around property planned and want to allow enough time.

You do not need to line up as your seats are reserved. you can get there about one hour before wishes is scheduled for that night, but if you wait a few minutes after (say 30 minutes prior) there is NO line and still plenty of desserts!!!!! Nobody really sits to watch the fireworks, so your seat is only used when you eat. you can hang around for about an 30 minutes or so after wishes. they will usually come around and give you a last call on desserts. about 15 minutes prior to the show, people usually line up at the rail for a good spot. (there are no bad spots). Have fun!!!

Disney really needs to get their act together on this booking. I have been calling their ADR line daily for at least the last ten days (since my check in date hit 90 days out). I have been told everything form it's 60 to 30 days in advance, to it's done 2 months in advance, meaning call in June for August bookings.

Well, I called again this morning and was told they're still not booking for August and to try again in TWO WEEKS! Having some spare time at work later on, I popped on their website and figured what the hell and GOT my date with the first try. It was cheaper than last year, so I think I got a really bad seating (if it's done that way?).

If I didn't try the website, I would have probably been shut out by the time the phone CM's started booking this. There is absolutely NO reason that Disney can not supply us with firm booking arrangements for this event like they do with all other ADR's. While I am happy that I got my reservation, I can't help being annoyed about all the time I wasted on the phone, and thinking I could have gotten a better seat.

Someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure that the price is the same for everyone on a particular night. I don't think there is any premium charged for any of the seats.

That is correct. There is no premium seating.

As already mentioned the table location does not really matter in the end because no tables are situated where you can see all of wishes anyway because of the roof overhang. Everyone who want to see Wishes will be standing at the railing and watching Tink fly over their heads.

If there is no premium seating at diffrent prices than the other alternative must be that Disney actually "lowered" the price on something. That's harder to believe than actually getting my booking today. Last year on a Saturday night in the comparable August week, I paid $31.00 a person. This year (also a Saturday night) I just paid $25.55 a person. I know they fluctuate the price according to season, but this makes no sense to me. Since this is so hard to book, I would believe they could actually raise the price and still maintain the same capacity(not to give them any ideas). I hope they didn't lower the quality of the event!

I have an early ADR for BOG at 4:00 so we should be ready for some desserts by then.

This was my dilema too. I booked BOG 3 months ago, along with all my other ADR's, and even though we are going for 8 days, we only had reservations in MK for two nights. This is why it is so frustrating having to book this event seperately with almost no room for other options.

If I can book this, I only have one night that whole week available. I was kind of disappointed with the early ADR but it just may be a good thing.

I paid the $25.55 per person the last time we did it in Oct 2011 on a Saturday night. There are 2 pricing levels currently like all dining locations which is classified and regular pricing and holiday pricing. The holiday pricing for the dessert party currently increases the price by $4.00 per person plus applicable taxes which would put the price just over $30.00. The night you went last year must have been considered holiday pricing. Here is what I paid the last two times we went to the dessert party.

$83.04 for 3 guests on Saturday, December 04, 2010
$75.65 for 3 guests on Saturday, October 22, 2011

My family did this and loved it. It isn't cheap, but if you take into consideration that you don't have to sit on a curb to stake your viewing spot for an hour then I think the price becomes more reasonable. The food is good, there are several types of beverages to choose from, and it isn't overly crowded.

Now that we've done it, we probably won't do it again unless there is a special occasion we are celebrating. OR, if we are planning to be in MK on an especially busy night.

I haven't been to BOG yet and had to practically beg to get an ADR their (even 180 days in advance) so I understand the early booking. One of the great things about the Dessert Party is you don't have to wait on line,or get there really early, your seats are allready reserved. So after Dinner, go and enjoy the park and work up another good appetite, because the desserts are plentiful.

I boycott this as this was once a free activity to sit there and watch fireworks (my family's favorite)
I don't think it was ever free, it can be a little pricey but it's fun for the kids to see Tink fly directly overhead. I have done it 3 times in 3 trips but don't plan on doing it this fall. The kids don't eat enough of the desserts for me to spend the money on it.

I think he meant that sitting there watching the fireworks used to be free (before the dessert parties were introduced)
