Thoughts on the All-Nighter?

Well Gang, the All-Nighter has ended! For those of you who were in attendance, what did you think? For those of you not in attendance, what did you think? Was it fun? Was it worth it? Was it a bust?

Thinking further down the line, will Disney do this again? If yes, what are your predictions for when it will be?

My prediction is that sometime in October, Disney will have another one (maybe will a Halloween theme?). I don't think they would dare do one over the Christmas season. What is the next film coming out? I wonder if it could be tied to that…

Anyways, thoughts??

Frankly, I don't understand it at all. Is there something magical about staying up all night? Is that a flashback to our childhood where we kinda always wanted to know what it would be like to stay up?

I watched the live stream for quite a while in the evening...the parade...Wishes. and then went to bed. I woke up around 4 AM and thought since I'm awake I think I'll check out what is happening on Main Street. I was amazed at how many people were out there. I was also shocked by the number of strollers with kids in them. Sorta worried me a little. Are parents so immature and self centered that they will disturb the sleep of their child to have the opportunity to stay up all night? Don't we reach a point in our growth that we are able to acknowledge the responsibilities of parenthood and make decisions based on that?

I realize that this is just my opinion, but, I couldn't help but think that were I a young parent (like I once was) and someone said "Hey, let's stay up all night at WDW", I would have had to say, 'I'd love too, but, I have to get my kids tucked in and getting the rest they and I need'. (sigh) I guess the times have changed.:(

To the first poster, I would say yes they will do it again at some point.

To the second poster, I felt the same way seeing so many little kids passed out in strollers at ungodly hours while watching the cam feed last night.

Having attended the Leap Day 24 hour event last year, this years event turned into a nightmare for us. We arrived at Magic Kingdom Orlando around 10. Saw the fireworks from the main entrance near Tonys Italian restaurant. Then headed towards Tomorrowland. Don't let the 24 stream live video fool you. This place was packed like Times Square on New Year's Eve. Total, grid lock prevented us from getting into Tomorrowland for over an hour. That's right an hour to walk from Main Street into Tomorrowland. The Emporium was jammed solid with guests trying to take a short cut into Adventureland because Main Street was at a stand still. Nobody couldn't even shop. Very unsafe, very dangerous to pack this many guests into the park. A total fire and emergency hazard to say the least. Those who purchased a full day ticket really lost their money, you couldn't enjoy yourself with crowds like this. Space Mountain at one point was a 3 hour wait. We turned away and went back to the resort at midnight. 2 hours in shoulder to shoulder walking and being pushed and shoved. If you didn't attend, you didn't miss much. Shame on Disney for not thinking of guest safety first.

I watched on the web cam, not all night. This morning looked great when the Characters came out in their Night ware, it looked like there was some very tired people. It looked like so much fun, but a little to far to pop over from the UK, be hey we will be there in Oct (132 days)

Sorry you feel you had a bad experience, but guest safety was not compromised. Magic Kingdom has a capacity of guests they can have within, and if that number wasn't reached then things were safe. Maybe not comfortable for you, but still safe.

Also, call me crazy, but if Tomorrowland was so packed, why not try any of the other areas of the park?

It was fairly crowded throughout the whole night but honestly it was one of my favorites disney experiences in a long while something about being sleep deprived brings the funny out in people and breaks the whole keep to yourself thing. Basically on the rides or in line everyone was talking to each other and the fur characters were walking around in front of the castle for a bit for the dj event which was a nice way to keep energized between attractions. If I had one complaint it's that they had to reschedule the closure of splash mountain so two e tickets were down for about an hour at 5 am splash and space. But other than that it really was a great time. -Edit If attendance from this year and last year is any indication I wouldn't doubt them doing this once a year.

I agree when I was there they were way to many kids walking around at 1 am I kept thinking why are they here?

The park was a very average summer day's size crowds during the day, but around 5pm things started to pick up quickly. By fireworks, the place was extremely busy. It stayed pretty busy through 3am when it finally started to thin out a little bit. There were definitely more people that stayed until 6am unlike last year.

Disney will continue to repeat this event because it essentially is only about 4 hours more than what you might see on a busy Christmas week with park opening at 7am and EMH until 3am. They also sell like to specialty merchandise and food. It will be successful until the novelty wears off.

The only thing I can think about the kids being there is just that maybe parents figure it's "special"! Like camping in the backyard and staying up all night, not an everyday occurrence and something "special".

Definitely not for my kiddos, but that's what I'd figure if I'd seen the feed! It sounds like itd be a mess though!!

Yes, a lot are. And it seems more and more are this way.

Britt I was thinking the same thing. It would be so memorable that we would maybe have a go at it with our 2! Of course on meltdown we would leave but it is important for me to have my kids love life and have some unique experiences! Life is short....

I wish I would have been there. I enjoyed watching the live webcam from Main Street. Can't wait to go back!
Down the road, in 2015 they could do all-nighters for Finding Dory or POTC 5
