Thoughts on Port Orleans French Quarter?

You either have to stay at Riverside and go to French quarter in the morning for beignets- or stay at French quarter and walk back late at night following yeehaw Bob.

Skipping either is not an option! Haha
I'll be at FQ ad won't mind the walk back from seeing Yeehaa Bob.

As far as Beignets, we have been to New Orleans a few times and have been to Cafe Du Monde for the real ones. Not the same.

your loss…. That’s just more beignets for me! Haha! I do enjoy cafe du monde when visiting NOL always a fun time. But even in NOL only the original gets them right… the second location in the mall is just not the same.

ust not a fan of that whole area, Key West, Sarasota Springs, Port Orleans/French Quarter. Feels like it far away from everything I want to see.
All of the resorts that you listed are some of our favorite resorts. We enjoy the more laidback vibe after busy days at the parks. To each their own!

He’s the definition of old school Disney entertainment. His show is also a masterclass in live performance - I’ve seen it many times and it never gets old.

We love POR for it's theming and it's size. We always stayed in AB and loved the winding paths, tropical feel, and many pools close to the rooms. The food court used to be one of the best, but we have not stayed there for a while, so I don't know what it is like now. We never had a problem with the buses, but avoided the bus stop in front of the resort. That one always seemed to be very busy.
We switched to POFQ only because my husband now has mobility issues and it's easier for him to get around in the small footprint of that resort. I don't really care for the NO theming- not my thing. The food court is fine. The buses were always fine too. The store was not as big or as good as the one at POR.
I guess if we could stay at POR again, that would be our first choice.
There's nothing wrong with POFQ, just our preference.

What do you mean tropical theming?

We love Port Orleans Riverside, the kids and grandkids both had a great time there! Riverside is a bit spread out but makes a great quiet walk after a day at the parks! We utilized French Quarters pool as well, we hopped on the boat and headed over! You will not be disappointed!!

POFQ: Nice and smaller feel and the rooms are nice. We just came back and one thing we ran into was noise. Our room overlooked one of the main thoroughfares and we heard carts rattling on the cobblestone all night (or so it seemed). Plus, our room had a communicating door and our neighbors had a young boy talking very loudly at 1:00 AM. So, the next day we asked and they switched us to POR in the Mansion section. It was much quieter and we were able to relax and sleep much more easily.

POR Alligator Bayou: We stayed here in 2024. Rooms were nice and quiet. The greenery was nice but the paths were confusing. Our room was closer to parking lot and there was no direct route to get to the main path that led to the Sassagoula Steamboat Company building (check-in, restaurants, etc). It was a little annoying but not terrible.

I do prefer the mansions section so much more. If at French Quarter, try to stay at Building 1 or 2 and those are quieter. I stayed in Bldg 2 a number of years and it was quiet and peaceful. I think that we just had a little bad luck this time.

Which building were you in at French Quarter?

We were in Building 6, overlooking the main walkway (Room 6313). It was an updated room and was very nice in that way. We had the shower only (such as you described in one of your recent trip reports). Everything should have been nice except for the carts on the cobblestone and the fact that we couldn't sleep with noise from next door. Thing is, I understand kids being excited and all that. It was just that it was 1:00 AM and we were bushed after a long travel day with delays. We moved to Acadian, by way of comparison. I think that we'll try for Parterre Place on our next trip.

We;ve always stayed in Bldg 4. It was a nice area and quick walk to the main building. We heard the horses hooves but that never bothered us, probably because we were not on the main walkway. Our rooms were shower rooms, which we prefer. Each area has their own fountain and seating around it. It's fun to go to each area and check out their fountains.
