Thoughts on Disney Springs Redevelopment

I've been rather interested on this project since it's original conception. But I am a tad bit baffled by how the WDC is allowing companies to build so many non-disney stores on site. I do understand the reasons both financially and for safety as to why Disney wants to keep all the $$$ or income from said rent with the new redevelopment. But what are the thoughts out there to the rumors of an apple store and Fine jewelry stores on Disney property?

DtD has been a place for 3rd party vendors for a long time. They're just re-imaging the place and making it more appealing to Disney guests, other tourists, and even locals.

I see that, but I feel that Locals like me, will try to avoid the area given the traffic. There are very nice upscale shopping centers all across Central Florida. But the questions I've been looking for is whether or not the general public will come and visit the new Downtown Disney or continue shopping elsewhere.

Do we need 1 million sq ft of Disney merchandise? There is only so much that Disney can offer, which is why third party operators are required to bring in some variety.

I personally can't wait for it to be complete - I think it will be a fantastic addition to WDW.

I also believe it will have an impact in Central Florida and become a destination in its own right. The combination of the dining and retail options will make Disney Springs much more than a mall can offer.

I have nothing against the third party vendors, I just find it odd to want to buy an Apple product. But i do see it prospering just as it has already prospered. I just feel that larger shopping centers will be affected if Disney Springs turns out to be a major draw to the area. It's like putting a Walmart in Amish Country although theres already a Universal Citywalk. I hope other companies begin to invest in similar ideas so that Disney doesn't always stay King of the industry.

What is odd about buying an Apple product there? Apple do some amazing stores, and I can't wait to see what WDI and Apple can cook up for that store - should be quite something.

I also think it is also safe to say that traffic will be much better once the parking garages and the direct ramp from I-4 are complete.

Haha I get it, it would be nice but not something a family on a tight budget could do while vacationing. Maybe more for the locals. But it could be spectacular. It's an amazing project and will hopefully begin a boom to Central Florida.

Lets cross our fingers on that one! I can't wait until it becomes easier to drive around the resort without having to wait over an hour to get from EPCOT to DtD.

It would not surprise me one bit if an Apple Store at DtD could survive solely on Disney guests that forget to bring charging cables or have technical issues with their i-items during vacation.

Haha I feel like thats the number one product that they will be selling. Possibly they might also include all of the cases for iPads, iPods, and iPhones. Thats what i feel will be the apple store, but someone just coming to disney to by an apple watch or iMac, I highly doubt it. It will be amazing to see what other concepts come out of this project.

I like what they are doing with the project. Was skeptical at first but I am liking it more each time. An Apple store at Disney would be awesome and that's just a matter of time before it comes to Disney unless they announced it is already coming?

IMO, its Disney's way of staying competitive with Universal, City Walk knocked Pleasure Island off its pedestal and Disney is firing back with Disney Springs, more family friendly and one more way to keep people on property.

Doesn't Apple have an unbreakable law that requires their stores to be so antiseptically white that they can perform open-heart surgery.

I for one, am happy with what Disney is doing. I just don't like they are changing the name. Everytime I go down there I have to go away from Disney for certain things, including the Apple Store. Now, I don't see a problem with staying right there. I just hope they do something about the nightlife. Citywalk seems like a great nitetime destination, but having nightclubs like they use to seems bad because of the riffraff that comes with it. I'm pleased though the Disney and its Springs. Can't wait for it to be completed.

Inside yes, outside no. I hear that the Disney Springs will be something interesting on the outside, and not a glass box.

I think it's a chaotic mess. Granted there is horrible growing pains right now, but even after it's done I think it will still be a headache. To big, to busy, nightmare to navigate. Throw in people who have no clue where they are going, what a mess. I do like the look of the new areas, but there is no way to spice up a parking garage, a couple of plants aren't going to fix that eyesore. The place has lost it's charm. Not saying there aren't positives but overall I am not a fan.
