Do you believe that people are renting scooters at the parks just so they don't have to wait in the long bus lines? Like, they don't actually have a condition and can walk just fine, but they're trying to circumvent the system?

I'm sure some do. In every large enough group, you're going to find garbage people. I'd say that they're probably a small percentage of the larger Scooter Squad, though. As someone pointed out on the boards a while back, using a scooter is actually far more inconvenient than most people think. I imagine that someone who is completely able and is thinking that they can cut some corners by using a scooter would realize pretty quickly that a slightly shorter bus wait time isn't worth the rest of the hassles that go along with using a scooter.

No I do not. Not worth the time, money, and hassle of doing all of that just to not wait on the bus line.

I'm sure there are people that do. But its not only the bus line that you get priority for.

Well, I admit that we don't have a smart phone. Gasp! I have an old flip phone that I hardly even turn on. So, someone like me (a dinosaur) LOL, would not be able to use Lyft or Uber. But I know that and it doesn't bother me. We either wait on the buses or wait a little longer to leave the park. The buses have always been horrible at any park closing, the worst for us being HS one night.
I have been a faithful WDW geek for over 20 years. We have gone all times of the year except during months April, May, June, & July. I have never seen it this bad.

From what I saw most of the people using them needed them. There were maybe a few I questioned (like two obvious sisters who seemed perfectly healthy. It also seems strange that they both needed scooters).

While I could possibly stretch my mind to understand Confederate flags (despite the fact that in a presentation about American History that in no way venerates the south and Lost Cause mythology)....

The hell with the Gadsden Flag? That was a battle flag of the Continental Marines (AKA the forerunners of the modern United States Marine Corps) during the American Revolution.

The best way to not repeat history is to learn from it. When we erase it, how do we learn from it? Sad times

The history is still there--and to be learnt from--in books and museums. Disney is supposed to be an enjoyable and inclusive experience, and I don't think it's a bad thing if a few politicised flags are taken down to avoid causing unnecessary offence.

Our last trip was 2016. We stayed at POP. same as before - Love the refurbished rooms. We had a queen size bed and a Murphy Bed (which we didn't use) and made the room seem so much bigger. No carpet. Sliding doors to the sink area and another the bathtub/toilet area. A separate cabinet for the frig with an added coffee maker. Loved this since I hate the coffee they serve in the food court. Huge TV. Awesome.

More scooters and strollers than I have ever seen before. Waiting on scooters to be loaded was almost on every bus and two more often than just one. On every previous trip they were few and far between (just an observation not an argument) However, in some places they did make them go through the line rather than them going directly to the front. As far as strollers they are bigger these days and take a lot of room up. However, if they weren't broke down by the time they got to the door we were told a couple of times to walk by them and get on. (on a side note: it was announced over the loud speakers while waiting in a queue: "if the party in front of you does not move ahead, go around them").

The parks didn't seem that crowed and wait times were reasonable. Our first day at HS a 15 minute wait on TOT was pretty much what we saw until we left around 3:00 in the afternoon (We actually rode Slinky, Alien Saucers, TSMM, ToT, & RnRcoaster all before our first FP kicked in at 10:20. So we rode ToT, RnRcoaster, and TSMM again. Note this was on an early entry day). We saw 15 minute waits for Soarin in EPCOT(rode it, ate breakfast, rode it again with no wait) , but TT was over 60 minutes and Frozen was 60-80 minutes.

Also, using early entry and FP we got to ride FoP 4 times without a wait. Awesome ride loved it. Na'vi River was about a 40 minute wait both times we rode it. I liked the ride even though some here don't. I would recommend going on t.

After leaving HS we went to MK to do a few things and catch the fireworks since it was on a non-Halloween Party day. The new fireworks show is amazing. The best the have put on.

HOWEVER, we could not believe the bus line when we got to our station. It took up two bays. 7 complete lines inside the rails and extended down the walkway. It took us 6 buses, which 2 were the doubles, to finally get on. I looked behind us when I got on and the line was still quite long. This happened again after going to the River of Lights show at AK. These two experiences were so unpleasant we did not go to any more night entertainment shows. These are not the only two times that we had come across long bus lines for POP. It happened at our resort and changed our plans and got on a different bus. After leaving a park, we could always tell where the POP bus station was when approaching the bus stations. It was always, yes always, the longest and most crowded station. I know POP is very popular but if they have a resort that large they should have the bus service to accommodate. With this experience I cannot recommend going to POP to anyone who asks my opinion.

All in all we made the best of our trip and had a great time.
The horrible bus situation can happen at any of the resorts... the worst bus experience we ever had was with AKL... It is the reason we never go to Disney without having a car. Buses can simply eat into too much of your vacation time.

I went to WDW for a single day before a cruise a week and a half ago. I was staying at Wilderness Lodge and I wanted to go to Epcot for a bit. This was about 1 PM. I waited 30 minutes for a bus to Epcot until I summoned a Lyft. (Yes, I timed it, so please don't be one of those patronizing people who says, "It just feels like you're waiting a long time." 🙄) Anyway, when I wanted to return to WL to get ready for dinner at The Boathouse, I waited 50 minutes for a bus back. I was the first person in line and the line had grown so long by the time a bus arrived. During that time, I saw 2 buses come and go at adjacent lines for other resorts. I should have called a Lyft, but I had the feeling once I did, a WL bus would arrive. This was about 3:15 PM on a Friday.

My cruise roommate stayed at Pop for a few days before the cruise and told me hour long waits were not unusual for her.

When you're staying at WL, feel free to use the Contemporary or Ft Wilderness buses as alternates, then grab the boat to WL.

If I put on my Tin Hat, I might think that increased bus waits are being done to encourage Minnie Van usage....

I know it isn't. It's just fun to talk crazy every once in a while.

On our most recent trip, waiting for the WL boat to Contemporary wasn't quick either. We've tended towards having a rental car for awhile now, but the MK boats are sometimes fun.

Also keep in mind that the boats don't always run. They shut down during lightning, and on one visit- they shut down due to fog. So we lost several minutes walking all the way down to the dock and back, plus several minutes of waiting on the dock. A boat pulled up tot he dock, and unloaded before we found out he had just been ordered to stop running.

Another time, it was perfectly sunny, and the CM's at the MK dock didn't know the boat had been stopped due to lightning in the area. Argh!

Sadly, we've also had bad luck when trying to go between Ft. W and WL, but maybe that's just us. We've only attempted it a few times. We wanted to walk, but a CM said, "Not after dark." (too many critters).

The buses are terrible at all the resorts especially when a park closes. If you have a car, you will save A LOT of time driving yourself to the parks.

The hotel parking fee! Reservations made prior to March21, 2018 are exempt, but that was just over 6 months ago.

Six months = 182.5 days, and 180 days = start of the ADR window. So it makes sense that the hotels are just now seeing a sudden reduction of cars at the hotels.

Well, last week when I was there, neither lightning nor fog caused any transportation issues. The big issue was cleaning the condensation off the car windows from the high humidity.

I really don't like the parking fee either because its an obiovous cash grab and you don't get any benefit from the fee, but if you are driving to Disney World, then you really don't have a choice about your car.

Yeah that kinda ticks me off. Not much you can do if you drive there. AND you are right it is just a money grab. I am not happy with Igor with things like this and other changes.

Complaints about history from people who have no actual knowledge of history are not complaints, they are whines.
Well, you know as well as I that today's society apparently doesn't feel the need to actually research or learn. Sadly, it applies to both sides of the political spectrum.
