DH and I lost our home on Monday due to a fire. We can no longer live at our place. So far, most of our stuff seems to be okay, but we have to wait until Tuesday until we can check our stuff to make sure there's not smoke or water damage. I'm sure throughout the weeks we'll throw stuff away. For now, we're at my parents place (unfortunatly) and just dealing with the loss. Our December Trip is the only thing we're looking foward to. We had an extremely bad last year--and we thought things would be better this year. It just seems that bad things always happen to us.

So sorry to hear your news. Just remember though that things and houses can be replaced, but lives cannot. ((Hugs))

Good thing you guys weren't hurt. It's always important to stay positive in tough situations. You'll get through it this year, and you'll be in WDW in December! I can't imagine what you guys are going through and I wish you the best of luck adjusting your lives until they are back to normal. Keep us updated, because we all really do wish you the best.

I am so sorry to hear this and as a "survivor" of a house fire as well, can relate to what you are going through. We lost everything and though we made it out ok, our spirits were lost.
You'll be in my prayers and be thankful for the people and things that you do have.

We're certainly glad that you're safe. Not to sound trite, but one way to start to deal with this is to look forward. This is your opportunity to change those things in your home that you never got to do before; maybe new furniture, some redecorating, or completely changing the layout of the rooms. And if your clothes are damaged, a new wardrobe. (Of course I'm assuming you have insurance to cover all of this!). Try to look at it as a great opportunity instead of the loss of something.

Keep us posted on how things turn out, and good luck.

Lori, I'm so sorry to hear this. As someone who has lived through a devastating house fire, I understand what you are feeling.

As Tigsmom said, personal belongings can be replaced.

Somethings can never be replaced though. You have to just let go, it can be tough at times, I know. Be thankful for what you have left.
