I have been to both IOA and USF and had a great time! Love the Rollercoasters especially. However, having said that, Part of the attraction at Disney for me is the feeling of being in a totally different world. I never got that feeling at USF or IOA. Always felt like I was at a theme park. Will I go back to IOA USF you bet. Just not the same feeling as Disney. Now, having said that, even if you were to only use a coupe days of the seven day pass it was a good deal I believe.

I agree....SEVEN DAYS?? No way could you spend 7 days in the parks! Not if you do every single attraction and IOA and Universal and hit City Walk. I love Universal...I'm an annual passholder, but NO WAY is there enough to do 7 days consectivly....no way.

Let me just clarify my other posts.... There are a few rides I enjoy in Universal... But those few rides wouldn't lead me to spend 7 days there... That's overkill... I am heading to WDW in May and I was going to give Universal another chance... But mainly, I was only going to go for a few hours, and only get on the rides I enjoy, then leave... Maybe, once Harry Potter gets built, and the attraction is a killer, then I would spend a few extra minutes just to check out the ride.. Not a HP fan, but I would be a fan of the ride, providing Universal Creative can create a terrific attraction.. Which, they possibly could do... After all, they did create Spiderman...

Just my opinion but the troll comment was completely fair towards the OP, check some of the other recent ones he started. Except I think 2 threads have been permanently deleted. Anyway...

As far as the animosity towards UO/IOA goes, I don't understand it either. Competition will keep WDI on their toes which means more fun things for us.

Don't pay attention to this poster. I started a thread that was critical of Everest and an argument started so the mods deleted the thread. I started another one that was completely unrelated but still had to do with Everest, and this poster (and one other) has had it out for me ever since. Apparently I struck a nerve with both of them. They've been desperately trying to get the other thread deleted too (so far with no success).

Let me preface my post by saying that I really, really enjoy both UO parks.
Then let me say that the last time I spent more than one day there was when ROTM opened up.

About two years ago me and the GF were staying at the polynesian and since she's a travel agent she gets comp tickets to UO, so we got a towncar to take us over there at about 9 or 10. Started at USF since it opened first, rode MIB like 3/4 times, BTTF, ROTM 2/3 times, watched some ROTM CM's scare guests on the way out of the gift shop near the lockers(It was a great time) Jaws, saw T23D, almost got ran over by Doc Brown :), rode ET, saw the Van Hellsing display and makeup show, then rolled out to IOA.

This was maybe 1pm, 2pm tops.

Over at IOA I made a beeline for the Marvel section, and we rode everything but storm force a few times, and got lunch at the baxter building. Dudley was down for refurb, and we didn't have a change of clothes so skipped Popeye, rode jurassic park once, went over to lost continent grabbed a snack at the enchanted oak, saw sinbad, did the poseidon adventure and rode DD at least twice. Went to Seuss landing, got some Goose Juice, rode cat in the hat and 1 Fish 2 Fish, went back to USF watched Shrek and got back to the Poly by like 7.

So, in 11 hours we did everything we needed to do there. Sure, we could have spaced it out took our time and maybe spend 2/3 days but 7 would be a bit much.

Also, as soon as we got back to our room we figured we'd take a nap then go to the Comedy Warehouse....

We woke up at 6 the next morning, lol.

Based on your description of your trip, it sounds like you were certainly able to get a lot done in a very short time. If anything, that seems to indicate that Universal is very efficient.

I didn't care for some of the attractions.... To me, enjoying 2 rides doesn't equal the money paid to enter... Not saying people shouldn't enjoy Universal.. I tried.... I gave it two chances... But, the parks don't do anything for me... I think 7 days there is way too much time.... But, if you truly enjoy the park, then fine... I am just expressing my opinion.... The only rides i truly like are Mummy, Spiderman and Hulk Coaster.... I no longer include Back to the Future since the ride is closed... Actulally, let me throw MIB in there.. I enjoy that ride too... But, other than that, I don't really like the place... Like I said, 7 days would cause me to hang myself... but, Mickster, I hope you do have a wonderful time....

Thanks! So far we're having a blast!!

Last night, we went to City Walk and had a great time. Tonight we went to Pleasure Island and it wasn't quite as fun. I've always thought of Pleasure Island as being superior to City Walk, but it seems like it has gone downhill somewhat. One thing that was cool though was that when we bought our passes, they had a deal where you could upgrade to a 5-day pass for an extra $5. This actually struck me as much more "desperate" than the Universal deal, but we didn't care. We jumped on it because I'm sure we'll go back to Pleasure Island at least once during this trip.

The last time I visited US, I did both parks in two days. In their entirety. Although the attractions were entertaining, many did not hold up to Disney standards. As for staying a week, I suppose you could redo things, but those parks could get REALLY stale after a week there.

Or it could be that your just a pot stirring ________ socket  :) out to cause disharmony on this wonderful all embracing board, where even dobbers are made welcome, in an off the wall chunky salsa dip sort of way.

Or perhaps some people really do hate you? I'm sure you will rise above it though, your no victim craving attention or sympathy, I can tell that from your posts. Dontlet the PML clique grind you down, I know what they say isn't true.

Yeah, you figured me out... It is my only goal in life to get your threads deleted.

Unfortunately your style gets them deleted prior to me having any success

Oh well, all I can do is try and try again

I'll have to get a meeting set up with this "other poster" and see if we can't come up with a fool proof plan to get anything deleted that speaks against the almighty Expedition Everest...

Some day... yes - some day I will succeed

I'm still a little shocked that Universal offers a 7 day pass. I have an annual pass (since it only charges my credit card $11 a month, I don't even realize I'm paying for it), and go maybe once or twice a month.

The price of the 7-day pass is a great deal, but I think that's a little besides the point. If you are coming for a limited time, 7 days is not necessary.

This past June, I went to Universal in the afternoon and went to USF as well as IoA and was able to get through most of the attractions.

If you get to the park around opening time, you should be able to do everything you want to do (multiple times even) in one day, maybe two days if you have children, senior citizens, or a morbidly obese whale.

Disney and Universal both have great selections in their own right. Disney has the better kiddy rides, as well as the kid/elderly safe "thrill" rides such as Test Track, Soarin, and Expedition Everest. Universal has the superior thrill rides, but is far lacking in kid-friendly attractions.

And in my personal opinion:

Universal Studios > Disney-MGM Studios (no contest)

MiB > Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin

Hulk > Rock'n Roller Coaster (due to length of ride as well as being flung 60 mph into the air gets more of a rush to me than into darkness)

Spiderman > Dinosaur

Fantasyland > Suess' Landing (I like Suess' Landing's design more, but the attraction selection is weak)

Disney's Nighttime Entertainment > Universal's Entertainment (a huge advantage for Disney)

A week in Universal sounds boring. Well in comparison to what else in Orlando. I've never desired to spend more than one day in Universal when I could be in Disney.

To say that I'm implying it is your "only goal in life" is a little extreme to say the least. However, it IS very obviously and transparently a goal. Otherwise, you wouldn't be taking EVERY statement I make on that thread and trying to turn it into an argument. Obviously you want it to turn into an argument thread so that the MODs will shut it down. Then you can brand me as some sort of "troublemaker" as you've clearly been trying to do. The funny thing is, not only has the thread not been shut down, but it still remains one of the most viewed threads, AND there are others posting on it that are just as critical of Everest as I am. I'm sure that's the very reason you've been hoping to get rid of the thread, but you know how you can avoid having to read those posts....? Don't open the thread. No one is forcing you to read it, and I've gone so far (numerous times) as to suggest you not open the thread if you don't like what people are saying in it. But yet you choose, continuously, to not only open and read the thread, but to continue posting there. So who is the real troll here? :hammer:

Agree with all of these! The one I'm starting to change my opinion on (based on this current trip) is the nighttime entertainment. I used to think Pleasure Island was far superior to City Walk. But PI really seems kind of run down and dead since the last time I was there. CW, by comparison, really has picked up. So far this trip we have gone to CW every night except one (that was the night we went to PI). It's been an absolute blast every night! Especially tonight (Red Coconut was great!!) We're going back to PI again tomorrow. Possibly the one dull night we had there was just a fluke.

Sure, I'll agree with that, mind you that was without the express pass.
I'm kinda anxious to go back for a day before our cruise in October.

I'm not responding to every statement you make, just the ones that are directed at me.

No matter what you may think I have no desire to brand you as a "trouble maker" - people get the reputation that they deserve all on their own.

You keep bringing up that there are so many others that are critical of EE - what does this have to do with anything? You imply that I don't like this thread (or your other about EE) becasue I am some sort of EE fan boy. I will ask you once again since yu have not responded to the question yet - When I have ever stated that I love EE, when I have ever stated that it is the best ride?

To me the funniest part of your comments (other than this thread was about UO not EE) towards me is that I don't think EE is spectacular. The mountain looks beautiful, I like the themeing of it, but the ride itself is OK as roller coaster, not bad at all but certantly not the most thrilling I have been on. SO based upon that why in the world would I care some people don;t like it.

So now I'm the troll - finally somebdy got me. I have only been here to cause trouble.

Same here. I have a Universal AP again, and on a week trip I can see spending one full day (still going to Disney after their crazy early closings at Universal to see the fireworks) and one or two half-days - and that's doing everything twice, LOL (and my favorites a half-dozen times).

They can offer the week-long deal for the same price as a one-day/two-park ticket for one very good reason : there simply isn't enough to do there to fill that time. That doesn't speak to the quality of what's there, but the quantity. IOA is a great park, for example, but if it's not busy you can do a full round of all the major rides in 3 hours or so. USF can be a bit more involved, but even exploring every nook and cranny it still would only take you three days to do both parks top to bottom.

I have personally done everything at IoA within four hours... rides, shows, and all.

I don't know whether or not Universal really will create the same Harry Potter-related attractions that Rowling wanted Disney to do, but for Disney's sake, I hope that Universal is very successful!

This will only create competition that forces Disney to improve the MK and Studios. Everyone knows that Disney is better; we'll end up winning. :)
