This might be a weird question...

F.Y.I, DW and I just stayed Club Level for 7 nights for $2,400, which includes food and spending money($3,000 or less). We do not have diamond-encrusted iPhones and we have a pit bull, not a teacup poodle. However...I am familiar with economics and I use this knowledge to plan our Disney trips. We sacrifice in other areas of our lives to be able to do Disney the way WE prefer to. I have as much respect for someone staying at a Value Resort as I do for someone staying in the Presidential suite at the Grand Floridian. You have just as much fun at the parks, regardless the size of your pocketbook. My wife and I save as much as we can before a Disney trip and save as much as we can when we are at Disney. To each his own. The OP asked, "how do you do it"? If a response to the post explains how someone finances a club level trip without breaking the bank, and that offends you, perhaps you should hold your tongue. If @coleandrachel needs help planning a trip, we should all be able to respond without criticism, as we all here to help each other. I hope you get to experience Club Level one day. It IS possible to do it for a fair price with proper planning and saving. As someone else in this thread mentioned, "That extra bit of magic you get at a deluxe turns it into a relaxing vacation..." May your next trip be magical and I look forward to seeing you at the Regatta Club!

I'm not "offended" by the way others choose to spend their money, nor do I sincerely believe that anyone wears silk smoking jackets around the house or keeps teacup poodles -- they are SO last year! ;) It was meant to be a bit of humorous hyperbole. ;) Now let's all go back to your homes -- there is nothing to see here -- and I promise to pepper my posts a bit more liberally with the "winking" emoticon next time, so as to make my tone perfectly clear. ;) My post was not meant to offend, and if it did, I apologize.

We have found over the years that no matter what time you go there are discounts on either the rooms or the dining. We take advantage of those upfront or re-book the trip once the discounts become available. A seven day stay at a deluxe resort with adult regular dining plan for 4 people has averaged just under 5k including the tickets. We are not huge shoppers so the extra cost(s) for us would be the travel, our car there if we didn't drive and air if we fly. Tips and alcohol extra as well. Not too bad and well worth it, we think.

Your post made me laugh. I think you have a good sense of humour... :D And hey, what's wrong with teacup poodles? I would love to have one, but my 3 cats would hate it.

This year is a new experience. we always try to stay at different resorts, and we are this year as well, but now we are a party of 8, not 6. We are staying at POR, a great resort from what I hear. Stayed at POFQ before. The new thing this year is I do not have my own room, we have to share with the kids, as my in laws have decided to join us. Saves money, but no privacy. Every trip we plan is for me and my wife to have a separate area, just some space. Hoping for free dining because of the size of our party it really pays off. I guess to answer the OP question, we always look for two rooms and free dining, usually at a mod or deluxe because of the additional price of upgrading the free dining. Oh well, here is to a new chapter this year, in laws.

But I was wondering.... How do you do it? When we go to WDW it is usually myself, my wife and our daughter (4). We usually always look for free dining plans and stay at value resorts because we want to have as much money as possible for inside the parks. I am curious as to how everyone else does their trips. Do you try to go "all out" each time? Do you only stay at certain resorts? Do you always get a dining plan? Please include how many people are in your party and if that plays a factor in your decisions. The thing is, I would LOVE to do an "all out" best of the best of everything vacation, but I would also like to go numerous times as opposed to waiting til I have the money to do this dream vacation. Plus with my daughter only being 4, she is just happy to be there. What are your thoughts?
We pretty much do the same as you. It is Me, DH, & DD4. When we went in 09' we had our 2 teenagers & the baby. We wanted to stay as cheap as possible. They offered buy 4 days get 3 free. We stayed at POP & had the QSDP. Last year we were going to do a "budget" trip but, it ended up being anything but. We did have a split stay at AOA/POP because we don't stay at the resort much & it's just a place to lay our heads. Can't justify spending more when most of the time we're not there. Anyway, our "budget" trip turned into MNSSHP, Photopass+, & we upgraded our free QSDP to Table service!

First family trip we went all out: stayed atrium club level,MK view at Contemporary, deluxe dining plan, every character meal except Cape May, park hopper tickets with waterpark option. DH said it was a once in a lifetime trip. Now we are going back: pulling camper to Fort Wilderness, park hoppers, no meal plan. A friend has made a few dinner reservations for all of us, but otherwise, we are slowing down & enjoying the little things this time. DD will have two friends in the group of 12 that is going, so we're making it about her having fun with them.
You will love FWC. It's nice to have your own spot and area, take your outdoor seating kick back and enjoy. An ALERT for you though, we found that once we stayed at FWC we don't want to stay anywhere else.
