This Makes Me Sad...

When a theme park gets old enough and new attractions start replacing the old ones, it is inevitable that the percentage of rides that are open right now will get smaller. I'm not saying DHS's condition is excusable, but your reasoning is flawed.

Its so true.....if there are plans to replace them.

But there isn't a plan at this point, so these attractions are closed, new ones not being put up, so it's just.....sitting :/

To be fair, some attractions aren't listed at all and the "closed" label on the ones they replaced is therefore misleading. (E.g., Star Tours is listed as "closed" but it's not -- it's just been upgraded to Star Tours II, which isn't listed.)

While I'm not sure the link you posted gives a totally accurate representation of the proportion of attractions in DHS that are open/closed, I do think we all agree with you that HS has lost its thematic center, and is badly in need of additional attractions and/or the restoration of its purpose as a functioning studio.

God bless the "Ignore" button.
Let's make a list of venues that aren't occupied, as opposed to a list of thing that have simply been replaced or never actually existed (David Copperfield). It'll be shorter.
Hunchback theatre
Daily parade
Parade "filler" (DCR/HSM)
Sounds Dangerous
Backlot tour
And, if we're really reaching, the "HOT SET" at Pixar Place
Obviously there's room for improvement, but let's not doom and gloom based on that silly link.

But we have Magic Bands and FP+! That's where all the money seems to be going. No attractions to ride or see but you can charge things to your bracelet and know 60 days ahead of time what rides you might be able to experience (of course that's providing they still exist by the time of your trip).

DHS has always been short of rides. It was short on rides back in 1989 when it opened. Normally, the course of action would be to build out one park before building a new one. Instead you have 2 parks that are basically 1/2 days. AK and DHS. AK really shouldn't have even been considered before DHS was more complete.
