"This is a big blow for us at Disney" says Disney exec about Russia sanctions

That sites article isn't found, but I think this is the article that is the actual news story:

Bottom line the entertainment industry is gonna be hit by the Russian/Ukrainian conflict as its effectively shutdown in Russian. So its no surprise that some Disney Execs say its a "big blow for us".

I am glad Disney was the FIRST studio to pull movies out of Russia. Now, if China decides to support Russia with economic and military aid, I hope they pull all movies out of China and close Shanghi Disneyland too. Universal should do the same. This is not political but moral. Russia is killing women and children and must be stopped. Americans and American Companies must take a stand here even if it hurts profits.

China isn't moral at all, regardless of if they support this war or not.

Disney's cooperation with them is beyond immoral.

Disney is just part of the greater problem that started when free trade agreements were made in the '90s. Walmart led the way, so Disney just had to play catch up. No more, no less. Doesn't make it right, just saying that it's not as fully independent a decision as you think.

I'm not claiming only Disney is in bed with China, but every company has a right to make their own decisions.

When you decide to wine and dine the president of China like Iger did and build a themepark owned half by their government, it's going way too far.

Yes, Disney needs to divest itself of SD. Looser Park that is not a DIsney property, but Disney is a minority part owner in. A bad deal that is not getting any better.

This Ukraine War Special Military Operation has really scrambled the wires. China is supporting Russia, but pretending not to. Disney still does big business in China, where gay marriage and gay rights are all still illegal. But Disney and the Twitter mob will just ignore that inconvenient truth while they focus on a Florida bill to keep sex talk out of the public school curriculum from Kindergarten through 3rd grade.

And yet gay CM's loading Space Mountain rockets today at Shanghai Disneyland aren't allowed to get married or adopt children per the anti-gay laws of Communist China. And Chinese censors won't let "sissy men" (their words, not mine, at least not when I'm sober) appear in Disney movies or media. That makes perfect sense, right?

All that said, I have been pleasantly surprised at how many American firms have pulled out of Russia in the last three weeks. Including Disney. Granted, Russia is a tiny demographic market and has no real impact on the bottom line, unlike China. But still, it's been heartening to see Disney and Starbucks and Boeing and Ford and Pepsi-Cola and McDonald's, etc., all leave Russia and abandon their businesses there.

It kind of sets a precedence for China, when the Communists finally decide to invade the free and democratic and Capitalist country of Taiwan.

I imagine both Beijing and Burbank are now thinking... What the hell just happened? What did we just commit to? 🤣

Lesson to Burbank and all Capitalists: Get in bed with Communists, and be prepared to deal with crabs. 🦀

Any ways what makes you think that the US culture is right for everyone in the world? That is exactly what starts wars. "We are right and you are wrong.".

It's not. And I don't think it should. I think Norwegians should be Norwegians, Kenyans should be Kenyans, and Chinese should be Chinese. But if a company is going to Tweet and Virtue Signal endlessly about how important it's values are for the locations it has operations in, it better be able to say the same thing across the board.

The CM working Pirates of the Caribbean in Shanghai should have the same rights as the CM working Pirates of the Caribbean in Anaheim, right? Or do "values" mean something different depending on what time zone you are operating the Pirate ride in?

Gay marriage is legal in Florida. Gay marriage is illegal in China. Gay adoption is legal in Florida. Gay adoption is illegal in China. There is a Disneyland in Florida, and there is a Disneyland (two actually) in China. So why are all the virtue signaling hipsters in Burbank and Emeryville and Bristol only caring about 2nd grade curriculum in Florida and they are completely silent about their fellow Disney employees in China? 🤔

Disney is running into a problem supporting too many sides lately.
The Disney Co. is an entertainment conglomerate "entertainment [ˌen(t)ərˈtānmənt] NOUN 1. the action of providing or being provided with amusement or enjoyment." The current leadership and management have lost focus on what the company does that makes them money. A combination of greed and advocacy in areas outside of their business domain are damaging the brand. I suggest management is steadily digging itself into a hole. Not that Disney cannot get out of the hole, but first management needs to stop digging.

Disney only cares about one thing making money and will support whatever makes them the most
Disney among many other US companies will support etc, ( ie approx 70% of USA meds ) come from a country not exactly on board with human rights. I'm also typing this on a tablet made in that far away country.
