Five years ago today, Jeffrey Hopper, 37, was seriously wounded outside the Ponderosa Steakhouse in Ashland, Virginia, in the latest of the sniper shootings that terrorized the Washington, DC, area, as well as much of the rest of Virginia and Maryland.

(I am glad that the sniper team was ultimately caught, although I don't know that they ever offered even the slightest of a coherent "reasoning". Sad, very sad.)

Elvis broke the strings of his guitar and even smashed it on the floor, while the audience went wild. There was even police assistance to get Elvis out of the hall.
