Third Trip Ever...WOOHOO

Hi everyone, let me first introduce myself my name is Steve, 21 years young (birthday in 18 days woohoo:)) from Rhode Island...but anyhow, here's my story.

January 7th-13th I will be going on my third visit to Walt Disney World, and first ever on resort! I will be staying at the All Star Sports Resort and I absolutely cannot wait. This will also be my lovely girlfriends and I first vacation together which makes it even more special to us. She has visited once when she was about 8 and stayed at the Wilderness Lodge but doesn't remember much. We are visiting the parks for 5 days, hitting MK in the middle of our vacation and of course; at the end.

I've read through the forums for actually for about 3 years, and decided why not join? So here I am with questions for you guys.

-Best spot to watch "Wishes"?
-How to take advantage of our Quick Service Dining Plan
-Resort Hopping? Worth the time? (Never been to any Disney Resort besides Shades of Green if that counts)
-And really any other cool, neat things you guys think would be great for a first timer on resort
-Photopass CD worth it?

and really anything you guys think would be great for us to try and do, any feedback, tips etc

Thank you all:)

I like to watch Wishes while standing in front of the castle. I stand between the castle and the hub (statue of Walt/Mickey).

Read menus now and gain an idea of what is available in each park and how to maximize your points. No sense in buying cheap things when you have paid for the plan. http://allears.net/din/quick-service-dining-plan.htm

You only have 5 days to see 4 parks. If you eat in a resort occasionally, that is fine, but I wouldn't spend a lot of time hopping.

I like the CD. It is a good chance to get a lot of pics of the 2 of you. If you are going to get it, study up on where all the photographers are. Try to get a lot of pictures because even pre paid, the CD is $120 at its cheapest.

Thanks! I actually downloaded the WDW IPhone app and read up on the menus when I'm on break at work :pSeems like Animal Kingdom I'm definitely hitting up Flame Tree BBQ. We also plan on having breakfast using a point (which I believe we can? not too sure) 2 days, we have reservations for Tonys in MK and 50s Prime Time that we will be paying ourselves.

Our first day on property we were planning to spend time in DTD, and maybe visit the Wilderness Lodge. My friend a former CM of the CP program gave me a tip today to go to the Polynesian and watch Wishes from there too, which we will most likely do.

dude, welcome to the forum... fellow new englander here.

1.) wishes... that's a tough call and a tough show to catch, everyone crams down by the train station and people get there early! as well as a the main circle intersection at the "hub".
2.) eat your tail off...
3.) I'd skip it, resorts are fun but I wouldn't waste park time... you might want to check out the resort loops ... contemporary, poly and GF.. as well as epcot resorts (beach club, boardwalk, swan and dolphin) since they don't take much effort to get to when you're visiting MK and EPCOT.
4.) skip the photopass, the quality isn't there for the price... ask the photographer to use your camera to take a shot!

Sweet! Thanks man it's always great to meet someone from around here since most people don't even know RI exists! LOL

My trip in 2011 I sat literally 50ft or so from the castle and I could not see any fireworks what-so-ever it was awful honestly, I could only see bits and pieces. I'm definitely not wasting my park time resort hopping, that would be an awful idea. On our first day we're not visiting any parks, just hanging out at DTD and on our check out day we have a flight scheduled for 7pm, checkout is at 3pm I think...So I figured maybe then resort hop or do something else for the remaining time.

we usually pack a backpack and have the bell hops hold our bags and go off to a park, we'll then likely come back for maybe a swim and then change up and hit the DME bus.

RI isn't a bad state, had my bachelor party in providence... crazy times

Wow! So many good questions, but 5 days is a tough one to fit all your dreams. My advice is to read and plan ahead so that you won't miss any of the magic.Check out the dining reviews on this site.As far as checking out other resorts,we check out maybe two on every trip, that's on our 14 day vacation.Photo pass, yes it's good if you plan to get plenty of pics.Staying inside the magic bubble is awesome and make sure you take advantage of all the perks.;)

I only plan on taking a backpack and a carry on, on the plane so I have no issues with waiting for my luggage at the airport.

You're right, RI isn't a bad state at all it has its perks. Providence just like every other city has its ups and downs. Where did you have it if you don't mind me asking? Anywhere specific?
