Thinking of changing from 2 rooms to 1

We are a family of four. My daughter, 2 adult sons (20 & 24), and myself.

We are booked for 2 rooms at the Pop Century. My last two stays have been at the Poly and it is absolutely my favorite place to stay.

We can get a Deluxe Studio at Poly for $1,300.00 more or a Bay Lake Tower 1 BR Villa for $2,400.00 more.

Thinking of choosing the Poly. Love the atmosphere (especially at night). Love the easy transportation. Daughter and I would share the bed and the two grandsons on the sofa bed or the shorter grandson (5'6") on the pull down bed.

It seems a no brainer to pay $1,300 more for the Poly vs Pop Century. Not sure if the Bay Lake Tower (never stayed there) would be worth $1,100.00 more but we would have a full kitchen and more space. We have stayed at the Contemporary multiple times and loved it.

I think that's a very bad idea. Nobody is going to sleep well in that situation and I think you'd end up regretting it halfway through. Not enough beds, not enough storage, and probably not enough bathrooms.

Your most budget-friendly option would probably be a family suite at Art of Animation. Your maximum use of space would be a two bedroom villa at Old Key West (probably around the same price as the one bedroom at Bay Lake Tower). Another viable option is a Fort Wilderness cabin.

I agree it's a bad idea. They are not little kids and would want some of their own space at times. That one room is going to close in VERY quickly. My husband and his brother I can guarantee would not want to share a bed, even in their 20's. Look into renting DVC points for a larger room in your desired location, but one room in my opinion would be a mistake.

To me the main question is, how close of a family are you? I personally would be fine with the space at Poly because I don't mind being in close quarters with my family and also because I don't spend very much time in the room. If you get a studio at Poly, there are two bathrooms so you would be covered in that respect. The one big downside I could see is only having one TV.

No. I'm extremely close to my mom and dad but I'm a grown man and I'm sure as heck not sharing a bed with either of them under any circumstances. I'm certainly not paying $1,300 extra to have to sleep with someone who is not my wife.

Thanks for the views. We are going to keep the two rooms at this time. We did not want a family suite because of the bed situation so we chose 2 rooms at Pop,

Hoping for a fall sale on the rooms in June or July and maybe moving up to 2 rooms in a moderate.

But didn't you saya while back that you have the dining plan? I don't think you can get a room discount if you do - I could be wrong.

Oh, but what a shower that 1/2 a bathroom has. Amazing. Not sure if it's $1,000 more amazing, but it's awesome.

But yeah, I wouldn't want to share a pull out couch with a full grown male, and that trundle bed barely fit my wife.

I have to agree. That shower is amazing!!!! It's my favorite on property (including the bungalows).

I'm confused though. You said a family of four but mentioned 5 people. 4 people in a studio would be 5. 5 adults would not be. Though we prefer 2 connecting rooms at PVB with 3 so we like our space.

There are just the four of us and we bought the dining plan. We are going during Halloween week for 4 nights and the free dining plan was not offered (just to clarify).

Still would LOVE to stay at Poly. I still consider the grandsons as boys even though they are young adults LOL! Been taking them to Disney for years but it has been a long time since we went as a family. Last time they were 12 & 8 and we did a Disney Cruise/WDW combination and stayed in the Contemporary with one room and two beds.

I'm paying for this trip so budget is an issue but of course I want the best bang for our buck!

My last two visits were at the Poly and I was "blown away". The atmosphere is AMAZING and the resort is just wonderful. They have not experienced it.

Oh well, 5 months to go so who knows what will happen.

Thanks for all the input!

BIG CHANGES ... We really wanted to stay together so I bit the bullet and splurged!

We have changed our 2 room reservation from POP to a split stay:

2 Nights at Bay Lake 2 BR Villa 10/30 & 10/31

That way we will be close for MNSSHP on the 31st

2 Nights at Animal Kingdom Kidani 2 BR Villa Savannah View 11/01 & 11/02

I'm going to surprise the grandsons with these rooms!
