Thinking about DVC... need a nudge!

the annual dues are a bit of a deal breaker for me... especially since I would have to finance up front. If I had the initial investment up front it wouldn't be that bad but I could see thing being a pretty decent monthly payments over a 10 year term.

The newer the resort the lower the dues alos. We own at both BWV and BLT and BLT is much cheaper than BWV.

We vacationed yearly at disney for several years always at deluxe resorts and friends who belogned to DVC said you're crazy buy in, its a better deal. So we purchased in 1999 and have only had addonitis since then. Best decision we ever made (and should have done it earlier) Our oldest started going at 3, but our twins went at 10 months and it was not a problem. They've grown up going to Disney and are counting that days until AUgust 10th when we go again.

Dont worry about the children, you've got kid switch, you can bring someone else to sit (Brought the twins godmothers the first trip) and there are the on site child care lcoations for the evenings when they get a bit older. Everything works out.

Good Luck!

I have one interesting question...

lets say I buy into the DVC now and utilize 2 years of points for my honeymoon. After the new points reload on whatever date they do could I rent out my points to help ease the financial situation?

because 11 nights at the Beach Club will run me 4700 dollars! wtffffffffffffff (without DVC)

Yes. You are allowed to rent your points as long as you have them to use in your account. Disney doesn't have a problem doing this as long as it isn't being done for commercial reasons. They have their system looking out for people who make an excessive amount of reservation for other people.

Basically, been attracted to and interested in DVC for a while now and now feel that purchasing is a logical decision. My fiance and I became engaged at the Beach Club this past March, it is certainly a special place for us. We are planning a honeymoon for next July (late July / early August 2012). This will be an epic trip and we're thinking a minimum of 12 days at the world. Now, I ask this question to all the members because the reality for my fiance and I is not will we spend 15,000 USD at Disney but when? This honeymoon trip will run almost 4 grand to begin with, so I feel like if I paid cash for this out of pocket and THEN joined DVC in a few years I feel like I wasted that 4 grand.

I have strong credit, but definitely do not have the money to purchase up front. How do you feel about financing? Also, do you think my reasoning is valid in terms of taking the DVC plunge considering the honeymoon investment?

We love Beach Club location, location, location, walk to Epcot and Studios, can't beat it. Started with 160 points through resale, after paying that off added twice through Disney. I feel that the finance charges will be offset by the savings, versus staying there cash. We wanted to add a cash night on last trip and it was well over $300.00, so we bought the extra points that they allow you yearly now,(up to 24) I think they were 15.00 each so we still saved. I look at it this way after 10 years my trips just cost the maintenance fees..... I can say that getting a loan for me outside of Disney (nowadays) was tough (self employed, doesn't seem to matter how good my credit is in the eyes of today's banks/lenders) so I went with Disney, the loan companies told me it was similar to a non secured loan since Disney has first rights. 10% seemed high when we financed but several Timeshare finance company's are around 15% now. (Depending upon your credit)

If you will go yearly or every other year I think it's a great investment, I have seen Beach Club Resales for very low prices also, but that brings up the financing question again. Saw 300 points as low as 72 (I would expect Disney to snag those)

We go three times during winter months as winter in NH is no fun. We have 370 points and stretch 3 trips going during the slow weeks 2nd week December, January into first week of February, Late October is good also. No crowds, easy for dinners (walk up) weather is always better than NH although last December it did hit 30 degrees.......kind of made the Osborne lights feel like they were in NH..... Anyways we dove in to DVC and have never been disappointed with our decision even though we financed through Disney, I can honestly say it's one of the best decisions we have made.
