Think of 2 Fantasyland flat rides.

Is there a reason it has to be a tilt-a-whirl and a scrambler? There are tons of flat rides in the world.

I thought you are talking Dumbo and Teacups.

I already got Dumbo and teacups. The reason for the scrambler and Teacups is because I want variety in design and I really don't want to retread (even though Dumbo in my park is a Scrambler with added scenery)

This is my first time coming up with some imagineering ideas, so don't laugh if it's dumb. :p

Maybe one of them could be a Fantasia themed thing and you are like Sorcery Mickey getting caught in the whirlpool of water and spinning around. There could even be added effects like some water splashing (a la Aladdin's Carpets).

I dunno. Just a thought.

There are tones of flatrides out there. Try this site :http://www.rideindex.de . It has a lot of rides listed (although under European names). Most of them are probably a little rough for what you are looking for, but it can give you a good base to work with for ride mechanics, and you can then theme it as you would like.

Nicholas: Actually, I like that idea. Ever see one of those funnel coin drops they have in the malls for donations? You could have some kind of a wheeled vehicle which is let loose from the outside rim, and then spirals around until it reaches the center.

Cloudboy, this is RCT2. So I can only use the rides that come with the game or rides that fans made. And due to the way I want to park, I can use only 3 x 3 flat rides. Therefor, my choices are rather limited.

Ah. Sorry, I don't play that game so I wasn't thinking in those terms.

That's a hard one as I don't really care much about the design of those rides, but at least for the scramblers I can think of something like a hanging teacups - perhaps hanging lanterns or something. I hate how you have that huge framework above teh cars. For the tilt-a-whirl you could always have something with an asian theme, and decorate the ride structure like an oriental garden. I am not sure how much themeing you can do in RCT2.

Oh, the Scrambler is a classic flat ride - there are many different versions and names, actually, but the idea is that you have three groups of three ride vehicles. The cars are basically seats with a lap-bar in front of you. Each group is arranged in a circle, with the cars facing forwards. Each group is then hung from an overhead support which goes to the center. As the cupport rotates, the groups on the end of the support also rotate, but in the opposite direction, so that you go spinning around a central point. The centrifigal (sp?) force pushes you to the outside of the car when you reach the outside. If you have ever been to a carnival you have seen one, I am sure.

Go wityh a lantern festival theme, from Mulan, for the Tilt-a-whirl. Do the cars up like japanese moon chairs - you enter in through a moon gate (those round gates in Japanese Gardens, and put a little japanese village around it. OK, so lantern festivals are Chinese, but it works.

What can you use besides a scrambler, anything?

Not having a whole lot of luck with this one. Not that I am well versed on the animated features anyway. I just think that the Scrambler design itself is too in the way and too unimaginative (at least in Dumbo you can control how high you go).

Do you have a Space Ranger Spin already? You could always do up the scrambler in an enclose space and just have people shoot at targets. Simple, bu kind of fun in a mindless sort of way.

I have Buzz Lightyear Astroblasters (spaceranger spin in Tokyo Disney and Disneyland)

Take your time though. They don't need a name until after I am done with my final tests before releasing the park.

Could always go with something from The Rescuers. The cars could be made of matchboxes, the center post would be a thread spool, and matchsticks for supports. Then around it you can have all sorts of oer-sized things.

You could also do something with the monkey fight from Jungle Book. As teh cars hit the outside of the ride, monkeys can jump out at the riders. Be a bit of a chaotic thing.

This one may be complicated, but how about something from The Sorcerer's Apprentice - as you get to the outside brooms with arms appear, and start to throw water at you, but you are pulled away before getting hit with the water. As the ride goes on more and more brooms appear, and the bottom of the ride fills with water. Be a lot of work to engineer, though.

Are you serious?!?!?! JK

You've seen one, I guarantee. Every traveling carnival has one set up. There are three arms, and on each of the arms there are 3 cars that spin around the axis, and those 3 big arms rotate around the main post. When you ride, it looks as if you're going to fly off into the fence, or crash into another car.

Go to your state or county fair and I'm 100% positive they'll have one!

I'm sure I've seen one somewhere I just don't know that that was what I saw. Anyone have a pic of an example? It sort of sounds like the Teacups.

Most flat rides are versions of the Teacups, or vice versa. Simple ride structure is usually something that spins around a center post - you eaither have cars off of that, or cars swinging around on arms off of the center post. If you put the support arms to the teacups above them, and replaced the spinning cup with simply a seat facing forward, you would have a version of a scrambler, yes.

The ride cars on teh scrambler were usually silver - looked kind of like a couch ith big fins on the back with lights in them. Check out that link I posted - they have pics there.

Apparently the Imagineers had this idea for Paradise Pier in California. Ursula's Spin is basically a spinner ride (like teacups. You could probably do one using the Scrambler style - Ursula's Tentacles would be the supports that hold up the cars. There is also a ride called the Octopus, which is kind of like a scrambler but it also bounces up and down, too.

Yeah those rides are great. There is one at Six Flags Great America themed to a Crawfish, and it's really fun.

So far I have one ride themed to Mulan and the other to Sorcerer's apprentice. But since I have no little mermaid themed ride, I think the Tiltawhril will be it. (Tiltawhril is very similiar to the octopus ride)
