Themeing at WWOHP

Disney set the bar for years, Universal has now leaped past them.

We'll see how Disney responds.

And in my opinion, a total lack of response from Disney isn't an example of them taking the high road. It would be just another instance of them settling for less.

The imagineers must have tons of things on the table!

I think there was probably a fair amount of former imagineers working on WWOHP. It would be awfully frustrating working for WDI coming up with great ideas then not seeing them implemented. Then your fellow imagineers decide to jump ship and end up getting to work on an amazing project.

Nobody on here think it's an issue that the FJ show building is pretty obvious once you get up to the castle?

That was one thing that really stuck out for me as well, to put the level of detail in that they did but not cover that. To me it was on the same level as the visibility of the HM show building but not as bad as Everest. If they paint it similar to how WDW did with everest it will be ok and maybe this is in the works but wasn't a factor for opening. They also had some scaffolding on the castle as well, so I think there is more stuff to be done before they finish.

Let's see how well the integrity of the area holds up, though.

There's the rub. Someone mentioned World Showcase as the only area at WDW that stood up to that level of immersion, and even then that's begun to fade into standard food and merch. I'm a little too young to have been to Epcot in it's infancy, but I'd wager that things were significantly more tightly themed in each country than they are even now. Things change over time.

Ten years from now, Hogsmeade might have generic IoA t-shirts for sale. It is, sadly, the way of things.
