Theme parks plan to open Wednesday
posted by John A. Cutter on Aug 29, 2006 3:52:17 PM

All three of Central Florida's major theme parks report that they expect to operate with normal hours tomorrow. Walt Disney World, Universal Orlando and SeaWorld Orlando will be open for business. SeaWorld spokesperson Becca Bides said the park shaved about two hours from its operations tomorrow, planning to close at 6 p.m. instead of 8:30 p.m., but otherwise will operate normally. "Unfortunately, we're getting quite good at preparing for storms," she said. (From reporter Beth Kassab.)

Best case scenario: School classes get canceled, disney stays open, people dont go to disney b/c the dont want to be in the rain, I go to disney and walk on everything.

I've decided to drive up Thursday, should be nice. This will probably hurt Labor Day Weekend plans for some and the weekend could be good too.

eh, ive been there during a TS... just lots of rain and wind... good thing is no one will be there. I am surprised they are closing early at all with the latest on the storm being so weak.

I've been lucky enough not to encounter too much rain in the world. But it should be good to do it in the rain, cause mostly everything is inside.

I have the utmost respect for tropical weather (I have met Hurricane Hugo eye to eye) but the media should reflect, that if the storm has weakened, lighten up a bit and quit trying to scare people so you have a news story. The World's should be a great place to visit if a little wind and rain don't bother your spirits much. (In my opinion, getting people aware and ready for a storm can be handled a little more appropriately; crying wolf too often carries its own shortfalls for preparedness.)
