Which of these items in the poll would you consider to be the worst torture (WDW-related)?

  • Coming so close to WDW....and not being able to go.
  • Being a few days away from a trip, then bang! Something happens and its delayed a few years.
  • All of your personal favorite attractions being down during your trip.
  • You check out of your resort and are ready to leave WDW, only to pass people arriving at the resort to start their stay.

I have actually made it to the Ferry area at the TTC and turned back as there was a que line formed to get on the Ferry or Monorail at 11:00 am the Tuesday following Memorial Day in 2011. I did not have the patience or fortitude to deal with the crowd like that on a Tuesday.
It cost me a few extra bucks at DTD that day for the kids.

Canceling the trip would be the worst for me because it would necessarily mean something bad enough had to happen to warrant canceling my trip - that's a double-bad. And, then I would feel guilt on top of that for feeling resentment for having to cancel my Disney trip when something presumably serious has happened. It's almost a triple-bad. That's just a doozy right there.

1). Well if one is THAT close to WDW and you can't spare a few hours or a day to go, whatever else one is doing must be way more important, so no big dea.
2). Something so bad happens that you have to cancel your trip AND put it off for a few years, would be the biggest disappointment. However, if whatever happened was so bad as to delay the trip for years, WDW is probably the least of your worries.
3). Having all of your favorite attractions being down during your trip is so unlikely a situation, it's not even worth worrying about.
4). You had your fun. It's time to go home and make room for others to have theirs.

I could handle any of them except having the trip cancelled and delayed a few years.
Nothing could be worse than being excited, counting down the days, having everything prepared... and it all falls apart. :( I'd have to go into major therapy for depression. At least the other choices leave an opening to go back next year. Having my favorite attractions down would definitely stink but theres other things to do to compensate. I always check out and see new guests arriving and I'm jealous of them, but I had my fun. And driving close would sting a bit but I still can go another time , maybe sooner than later.

Personally I chose the worst being my leaving and having to watch others just start their trip. There's just something about that excited feeling when you first arrive and realize you have a whole week (or whatever) ahead of you. I'd be far envious of those getting that feeling than the bad feeling in the pit of my stomach when I'm down to my last minutes on WDW property.

Oh jeez. They all sound horrible. If there was a fifth choice, I'd say all of the above! But I think leaving and seeing others arrive starting their trip is the worst. I mean, the thrill and excitement of waiting and then, finally the enjoyment of doing all the things you wanted to do comes to a sudden and sorrowful ending of having to leave and see others go to the parks. Unless you live in Florida, you can't go to WDW anytime you want. You feel a bit powerless for a while and you just instantly miss all the sights, sounds and experiences of WDW that even looking at photos or videos doesn't suffice. I do agree cancelling your trip and having to wait is also pretty bad but at least, you get your money back...presumably.

Without a doubt for me it would have to be the cancellation option. It's already been years since I last went to WDW, and I know I would be ridiculously excited and unable to concentrate on anything else if I had a trip planned a few days away. Having to cancel and wait a few more years would be crushing! I can just about (almost) deal with passing people who are just about to start their holiday while I'm leaving. I find it a little depressing, but at the same time, you have all the memories, photos and souvenirs from the amazing time that you've just had. :)

The last one is what I like to call the walk of shame. I love walking into the hotel and being greeted with, "Welcome Home". I see everyone else doing their walk of shame thinking that I have all this time and they are leaving. As my vacation progresses we still see people leaving but am happy as I have "x" amount of days left. Finally, its my turn for the walk of shame. The way I avoid this now is the joy of a Disney Cruise. We all check in on the same day and we all leave the same day.

I didn't think to add it as an option, but it's kind of torture when you catch a whiff of a scent that takes you instantly back to a Disney ride.......except you're far away from it. The other day I walked into someone's house and the scent in there instantly made me think of Living With the Land.

Watching others arrive at time of departure is the worse. What those individuals are in reality: Happy Families who have worked and sacrificed in order to have this special time together with nothing more than the expectation of having a fun-filled vacation and making lasting memories. How they appear to one who is departing: Clueless self-important oafs who don't know the difference between a fast pass and a photo pass with spoiled, entitled children who don't deserve to be there in the first place. The feeling usually passes at some point at the airport waiting for the flight home.

The 2nd choice is probably the worse, since it means something really bad has happened. But driving by the Mickey telephone pole, and the off ramps on I-4 are really bad if you live in Florida. I have to drive to Orlando often for work, and usually dont get a chance to go to the parks due to scheduling. I must say, that is a not so good feeling, just doing a drive by of the world. Even if I get to go to DTD for Earl or Goofys candy co., its just not the same.

kind of a side not here. But when looking at your My Disney Experience, where it lists all of the days you will be there. When you scroll to the bottom of the page and see the last day there, that kinda sucks. Plus it makes me want to keep adding days. I need to hit the powerball soon.
