The worst decision WDW ever made?

This is an opinion based thread just wanted to see what everyone thought.... I think getting rid of the old FP system and filling in the Lagoon and Closing 20,000 Leagues.
i agree with you on closing 20,000 leagues i always loved that ride and still miss it.however i disagree on the new FP i think it works very well with the magic bands.i also do enjoy the magic bands much easier to use in my opinion. i do understand some have had problems but so far i have never had any trouble using them.

New Test Track, Wonders of Life closing, FP+ ESPECIALLY
AGREED! Wow, 'drive' a car (not really), go through heat, cold, hit bumps and then go 60 or so. When you are done you get to play on a computer....boring, unimaginative and duplicative of a day-to-day Midwestern driving experience. I'll give you that there's bigger 'sins' the company has committed, but I will never get folks love of this ride once you reach the age of a drivers license. Loved Wonders of Life too!, FP+...meh.

I love all these responses because they are so true. However, I just have two more words to add: Off Kilter. I've heard from quite a few that Disney never admits to a mistake, so it's just wishful thinking on my part.

For me, Dreamfinder & Figment :arghh: :banghead: :(
How they can take something so great and wonderful and diminish it the way they did and really, the Epcot mascots......there are no nice words so I'll stop. I have some slight hope one day it will all return. At least they have a great new comic series.

I disagree with this one. Starbucks has become an expected daily routine for so many. Their quality and consistency is second to none in the foodservice industry.

And a lot of people go to Disney World to escape reality. People will survive without their Starbucks for a few days. They did it before SB ever moved in.

So has getting stuck in traffic. Doesn't mean it should be in the parks.

Exactly!

I think the worst decision was taking the screamers out of Illuminations and the corporate greed of cutting a large chunk of the roaming performing ensembles! Those ensembles made Disney unique in that not many other amusement parks around the country/world have that. Sorry if I duplicated anything, I didn't read the whole thread.

Ending the concept of the vacation kingdom of the world.

At one time the resort was about more than the rides in the parks and advertising emphasised things like fine dining, shopping and other adult oriented activities. Most of the original EPCOT centre as well as the shops on main st and Liberty sq were based on this as well as places like the top of the world lounge and pleasure island.

Now, in the UK at least, everything is about rides and advertising is all geared to families with preschoolers.

It's all a bit sad to me that the focus has become so narrow

I agree, which is why this recent DLP advert in the UK was a very welcome surprise as it didn't just focus on the families, and the rides, but more the experience :)

Bob Iger is the worst thing Disney has done for park consumers, we haven't had any real improvements other than Fantasy Land since he's been at the helm. He's probably the best thing Disney's done for shareholders though, although they've been downgraded three times this year I believe. Maybe it's time for some fresh and innovative leadership.

The US parks are practically falling apart, but they're a cash cow so they can be left stale and rotting. There's tons of money to be made elsewhere so that's where they're investing instead.
