I thought it'd be nice to alert people about hazardous weather conditions. Since a lot of people are in FL, here's a message for the Universal/Disney area:

...SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE MELBOURNE FL 732 PM EDT TUE JUL 30 2002
THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN MELBOURNE HAS ISSUED A

* SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING FOR... WESTERN ORANGE COUNTY IN EAST CENTRAL FLORIDA

* UNTIL 815 PM EDT

* AT 726 PM EDT...NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE DOPPLER RADAR INDICATED A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM OVER ORLOVISTA...OR ABOUT 3 MILES SOUTH OF PINE HILLS...MOVING NORTH AT 5 MPH.

* OTHER LOCATIONS IN THE WARNING INCLUDE BELLE ISLE...PINE CASTLE... UNIVERSAL STUDIOS AND WEKIWA SPRINGS STATE PARK

SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS PRODUCE DAMAGING WINDS IN EXCESS OF 58 MILES AN HOUR...DESTRUCTIVE HAIL...DEADLY LIGHTNING AND VERY HEAVY RAIN. IF THE STORM APPROACHES YOU...MOVE TO AN INTERIOR ROOM ON THE LOWEST FLOOR.

That's all well and good, but chances are if they are on vacation in FL, they arent' checking these boards with weather updates.

That would be like each person on these boards posting the weather forcast for their hometown.

That would make for a thread that is utterly useless.

Well, I think the weather channel is pretty useless, but people still watch it. You just never know what people will be entertained by!

The weather channel is quite educational and it's not useless to all the farmers out there (like my dad).

It's real cool watching the weathermen go flying off in the hurricanes.

I didn't meant it like that>....hehe....

I just meant if we posted every storm alert for FL, we'd be posting multiple storm alerts a week...nobody would read them, so why bother. If something major happens, it'll make the boards

That's very true! I'm not a farmer though, so the "doppler 2000 accuweather 7 day forecast" works ok for me. :lol:

LOL! my nephew will sit there and watch the weather channel for hours! Me? Heck I just use weatherbug! LOL!

What do you think this is? The weather channel.

Also, it isn't a great idea to go on your computer when there is a thunder storm... it isn't good for you computer or you. Stick to TV or more safely radio.

I don't worry about it too much while in my apartment or in my dorm room. I've been through heavy heavy storms in both and never have had a power surge.

You could give storm alerts for britain though!
Flash floods in scotland yesterday! Trains cancelled! Motorways closed! Landslides!

I thought that too and the lightning came through the phone line last year and zapped our computer. Although the insurance covered it so we have a new one now :sohappy: Just remember what happened to Maria also
