Just a little question for packing purposes... I'll be going down to work for my internship for the fall program, I'll be down there august 23rd, throughout January 5th... My question is, what is the weather like during the winter months like november and december, what Kind of clothes should I plan to bring for that weather? And is anyone else from this board going down there this fall? If so I'd like to hear from you!!! My AIM is Tink1885... Thank you for all your help guys!!!! Wish me luck working to the mouse !!! I'm just so excited!!!!:D

It can get chilly around the end of the year in central Florida....as low as the mid-30s to low 40s late at night and early in the morning. Not polar by any means, but pretty chilly when a good wind comes through. Pack a few long-sleeved shirts and one or two sturdy jackets and you should be OK.

it's hit 27 before in Orlando... Iin the middle of the afternoon. That was a bad year. Otherwise, it rarely gets below 39... but it gets windy enough to feel like it's 20.

Yeah when I was down there last fall I thought it wasn't going to get as cold as it does here in Atlanta...wrong.

Pack some warm clothing lol

I've been here since January, and already I've experienced every kind of weather. Bring jeans, nights get cold, as well as some long sleeve shirts/hoodies. I may be down here when you get here, but not 100% certain right now.

Is family coming down to see you at any point?

If they are before November, have them bring down your wintery stuff (heavier coats, etc).

Saves you room in your closet and gives them an excuse to visit.

Yes it does get cold there, so bring warm clothing and such. I would bring an equal amount of each type of clothing. Have fun. Btw what are you doing during your internship??

I got custodial, which I'm really not that upset about at all, almost excited cuz then at least I get to move around a lot ya know? If anyone else has done this let me know how it goes/went etc. I'd like to hear more about it, I don't know where yet though. But, my counselor woman here at NIU told me that since my major is athletic training, and I'll be certified as a lifeguard at the end of May I should e-mail my recruiter and let him know this and he might put me either at a waterpark, (doing custodial, or lifegaurding) or even at the Wide World of Sports, but there's no promise of that of course... I'm just excited for it all hoenstly:)

My family plans on comign down,. but they have no idea when or if it's really going to happen, but that is a good idea to have them bring stuff if they come ddown before it gets too chilly....

Also, what do people usually do in their spare time down there while doing the CP???

I dont know if they can transfer you to lifeguard from custodial but you can try. But i had a few friends that did custiodial and they liked it. I have a friend who is doing custodial the same time you are.
When your family comes they can bring you stuff or if they dont come down they could always send you stuff by mail. My parents did.

Lets see on my spare time I used to go the parks if I did not have to go shopping for food first, but I hopped on the first bus that took me there to shop. But you will have plenty to do while you are there.

If you need to know more just ask.

Alright, I have another question (sorry) Ok, I have only been to Disney in July, so I mena I understand how busy it can get but, what about during like Halloween time, and Christmas time. Also, I don't know much about the NSS Halloween party so if anyone can fill me in that'd be great!

Also, one more thing, My dates are from 8/23-1/5, so do I need to be there on the 23rd? Like is there going to be things going on? My parents and I plan on going a couple days earlier then the 23rd but I was just wondering when everything like starts, liek do I begin working on the 23rd too? So much I just don't know AHHHHHH any help is GREATLY appreciated!!!!

Thanks bunch!:D

Yes the dates you listed will be crowded. Also, you said you arrive on August 23rd correct. That is your check in and move in date. You will go to orientations for that day and the next day. Then either the next day or a few after that you will go to traditions and then you will start training at your working place. If you have anymore questions feel free to ask , that is why we are here!

Do not bring too much clothing with you, but make sure you bring a coat. It does get cold and very chilly in December and January.
the rest of your clothes, you can buy them there as you need them, so pack light.
