Trip Report The "we took a trip to Disney World just so we could write a trip report" trip report

Hello fellow Disney-folk! Early this year me (Scott) and my CDP (co-Disney-Phile) Lyn started hatching a spring trip to WDW. We've never done a real trip report before so we thought it would be fun. Lots of pictures too. Enjoy!

Our "incredible" vacation (er...long weekend, anyway) ended up during St Patrick's Day weekend. Planned in advance with reservations at Pop Century, snagging pretty decent rates too. Magic Bands customized, ordered, and received! Not really into planning things out very much but since FP+ was available, we used it (more on that later).

One day I got two(!) boxes in my mailbox from Davenport Florida. Magic Bands!

Are we Disney-nerds? Yup. Hadn't done this before though: Mousekeeping tipping envelopes (available from WDW Prep School). This was kind of an experiment. Tipping at hotels has been a contentious point recently. Even though I travel quite a bit I'd never heard of leaving tips at hotels before reading about tipping "mousekeeping". I won't start a debate about the practice, but this was something we wanted to try in our (my?) own odd way.

More exciting news about that later on. Stay tuned!

Great report, I heard of that ride just recently inside the pavilion. Now that you have described it for all of us with some once again awesome pictures I will have to give this a try :). Thanks!! It's always great to learn about attractions that are not well known which in turn makes you want to go back to Disney again.

It's not Mission Space but I enjoy it :)

Thanks :)

Day Three...dinner at last

Dinner? Yeah. Lyn has, but I don't do ADRs much. Last trip we went to Raglan Road. This trip... well she didn't quite figure it out. Our last FP+ was for (of all things) Space Ship Earth (thanks Phoenicians!) about 35 minutes before our reservation. It was kind of obvious we were staying at Epcot then - and stayed we did.

We made our way back toward World Showcase (as I took those late afternoon pictures from the last set) and ended up here:

Le Cellier! Yeah I know, seems like everyone here has eaten here or there but I'm a "grab a sandwich when the mood hits" kind of guy (and I'm happy with that), so planning dinner never really crosses my mind. We're both steak eaters so we really wanted to try it.

We had to take a minute to smell the flowers (sniff) in Victoria Gardens - where they removed the tree!

Then there it was. Finally. The holy grail of eating joints at Epcot...well, to me anyway. Only second to Club Cool! :) Standing tall like a monument to fine Canadian beef - Le Cellier. Golly!

I'm not overly proud of these pictures but to be fair, Le Cellier is very dark inside and I didn't have a particularly good low-light lens for the occasion. But this is Le Cellier... after just a few minutes wait (and after watching someone try to cut their way into the reservation queue in front of us ;) ) we were led to the New Brunswick area. Seeing that half our party is from just south of NB that was fitting.

So what to have? Salads? Moose burgers? Yeah right... nope. Beef please. First though, bring us a plate of that famous pretzel bread stuff everyone raves about. Bring the butter too. Plenty of cold water please also.

The bread plate arrives and didn't disappoint. The pretzel bread was everything we'd expected and maybe more. All of it was good though. We devoured it.

The main course for the Mainer - the fillet, butterflied. I cook steak (including filets and T-bones) quite often but I'd never heard of butterflying a fillet. They slice it almost in two horizontally then you can unfold it so the fillet is half as thick but twice as large on the plate. Worked out well.

We also commented that the fillets always seem to look tiny in pictures. They're really not. They're not massive steaks by any means but they're a decent size piece of meat. I tried some and it was really terrific. She was happy with it :)

Since Lyn got the fillet I decided to get something slightly different, so my feast was the NY Strip steak. It was fabulous. Really really good. To be perfectly honest I'd have a hard time deciding which of the two to have again.

In real life the steak wasn't blurred...honest!

To finish off the night we split a Maple Creme Brulee. It was just about perfect. No complaints at all

So was dinner and the end of day three - no actually there is just a wee bit more. Next time we'll have a walk to the car and maybe reveal the tipping experiment results. And of course there's the exciting action-packed story of day four to tell.

Stay tuned :)

I had a sneaky suspicion it would be Le Cellier! :cautious:

I would love to eat here but it's pretty expensive! I wish they had a cheaper lunch menu or something.

Great report. Your pics are so good you can really tell the weather looks almost perfect for strolling through the WS.

We need time for things to happen.
Still following along!

As far as your other guest complaint, I don't do that too often, but the kinda guy you're talking about at the very least deserves a few words about his rude a$$ typed up in a trip report.

Is it stupid that I'm excited about the progress of your "Epcot" tree???

Thanks everyone for the comments :)

I love everything about your trip report! I'm in awe of your photography, and the little tree updates are making me so happy:).

More tree updates to come!

Great report. Your pics are so good you can really tell the weather looks almost perfect for strolling through the WS.

Note to everyone: mid-April is when it starts getting really warm here. Like everywhere though it can be warmer or cooler earlier or later, but the rule of thumb is "it's nice in Florida mid-October to mid-April". November to March is usually about perfect for me :)

Yeah really - can you believe that? He wasn't yelling into the phone but still...

Is it stupid that I'm excited about the progress of your "Epcot" tree???

Fingers crossed on that guy. I'll keep everyone posted.

Great TR, I will be watching for the rest of the report and great pictures.

Thanks - more to come!
