I know there are at least a hand full of members who collect toys/action figures/ statues/ busts/ models etc...

So I figured we should have our own thread!

Lets use this space to post our latest toy acquisitions. Photo's are always good if you have the means.

For starters list what it is you collect.

I dump the most money in Star Wars. Followed closely my misc. Disney/WDW related stuff and lastly horror and "cult classics." (Not necessarily the NECA series that goes by that name)

My latest find:

1978 Kenner Star Wars Land Speeder. I picked it up at the local flea market with the original box for $35! I'll get a pic later when I'm not supposed to be getting ready for work! lol

Hopefully some of you decide to join in! :)

NECA has really been disappointing me...Machete is sitting in a warehouse somewhere and NECA TWILIGHT figures are on the shelves?

:brick:

American toy companies have really hit the fan. Hasbro kills Indy through stupidity, Palisades collapses because of a shady movie company, hopefully Mattel won't screw up the Ghostbusters figures or kill the Dark Knight Movie Masters, though those have already vanished from shelves either due to lack of product or lack of interest from the retailers.

As with everything else, the best in Toys are the ones from Japan. Thanks to the fact that corporations over there are willing to share products together (I.E. Multiple companies holding licenses for the same franchise) better variety, and better quality products are made. My favorite is FIGMA, the figures are fantastic and they don't skimp on pack-ins and accessories, both incredibly enjoying for the consumer, and rewarding for people like me who naturally find difficulty getting them all over here, I still don't feel like I've been ripped off in not having them all.

Seeing Palisades go broke my heart because of the Muppet's license. I think NECA has really shined in the past 5 or 6 years. They picked up and more where McFarlane dropped the ball with Movie Maniacs. I can't complain with Hasbro myself...Star Wars toys o' plenty, GI Joe re-releases...all smiles here. Plus they're based in my hometown. :D I'm interested to see what Mattel can do with Ghost Busters. I have a feeling the actual toys won't come anywhere close to the beautiful sculpts we've seen. Still worth owning though. lol

FIGMA is good if you like anime and statues...neither up my alley but they are well done!

Gentle Giant is a personal favorite of mine. One because of the Star Wars (and Disney)licensing and two because you can't beat the quality to price ratio of Bust Ups! I love 'em. :D

All great American toy companies IMO. :)

*edit* Just want to add that McFarlane has gone from one of my favorites to my least. If you're into Sports it seems they're your company now. Not to mention you'd think they're made of gold! (Although NECA's prices are up there too) I'm somewhat interested in the Fantasy line but I'll hold off until I can find them on clearance!

I just can't forgive Hasbro after the Transformers Drought of 07', and then the horridly promoted and planned Indy Line. (Yea, one Henry Sr. per box, that's a smart idea. Have to make room for the four-a-case Mutt without Jacket)
:brick:

Thanks to Hasbro I have great Indy figures...just missing many of the main characters as well as anything from Temple of Doom.

:hammer:

My problem with Neca is that they pick up more and more licenses, then abort them ASAP. Want more Kill Bill Figures? How about many of the MAIN characters from Planet Terror and 300? Too bad! Plus they've gone from including tons of accessories to having practically none. It's sad really, I had all my eggs in the NECA basket but they've let me down on the Action Figure department.

Palisades was the Best American Toy company for me. my Muppets are still proudly displayed as excellent figures and playsets. The Backstage playset is a MASTERPIECE. My Jim Henson and Super Grover are still MIB because they are so good. Plus they had Adult Swim, and so many other figures left undone...oh how I miss them.

*Looks at Palisades Collector's Club card*

All those extra Indy figures are on clearance at Wal Mart right now lol. I haven't even started with my Indy collection yet. I'm content with my one 3.75" Indiana Jones WDW/DL exvlusive that I picked up on my last trip.

I guess I haven't really picked up on the NECA licensing issue as I'm a casual collector. When I'm shopping and I see something cool I grab it. I do hope to see more Dawn of the Dead figures though. Do they still have rights to do that? :D

I feel like the only good Muppets stuff that's recent is too expensive!! I miss seeing new plastic muppets!

Just for pure nostalgia I've been collecting the Masters of the Universe Classics figures. Finally, these figures have been done right! I collected the 200x series until the "Smash-Blade He-Man debacle."

I'll post pictures later.

I will also collect the Ghostbusters figures because now that I've seen what they can do.... In Matty I trust!

I don't collect MotU but have to admit the Classics line is pretty cool. Far better than the last attempt! I was wondering how tall they are...at 20 bucks are they any bigger?
