Is Animal Kingdom at least to me

This park not only has the largest land to build on but it also has a theme that can go many ways. How Eisner said on opening day

"Welcome to a kingdom of animals... real, ancient and IMAGINED: a kingdom ruled by lions, dinosaurs and DRAGONS; a kingdom of balance, harmony and survival; a kingdom we enter to share in the wonder, gaze at the beauty, thrill at the drama, and learn."

Now the only imagined animal at the kingdom is the Yeti and with this i know for a fact Disney will built Beastly Kingdom (or something like it). They just have it on hold as their next big project to follow up everest when will that be we may never know. But I'm pretty sure the dragon concept hasn't left the Disney imagineers thoughts its roaming around there and it will come back.Another thing is they are for a fact gonna add more animal exhibits what continent would be next ????South America with its variety of birds, anacondas etc?Australia with its Kangaroos and Koalas??? Or maybe they'll take it to the poles and mix in penguins and polar bears (well maybe not exactly mix it lol). But for these Reasons Animal Kingdom to me is the most ambitious park. This park in the Future might go up there with IOA and the Magic Kingdom.

Oh, I thought it was because there is an absolute lack of family attractions and rides. It is sooooo poor off in fact that they don't pretend like it isn't a half day park like DHS -- it ACTUALLY IS A HALF DAY PARK. Sure, on Wednesdays they go ahead and let you see that the lights do work afterall, but besides that....they make no effort into letting guests believe that they have shame about charging the same for admission as Epcot or MK where you can easilly fill a full day and still have several items left on your checklist.

Was that jaded?

Oh, and instead of actually adding attractions to fill the guests time, they open not one --- but two full service TS eateries. So they expect that guests will be WAY to bored to fill out the day that they would need to invest between 1-3 hours on a meal while justifying their entrance.

Maybe if they just added another 1/4 mile of walkway between lands that would be better. Or, for a really crazy idea, add a 5th attraction designed to keep the under 7 crowd as far away as possible.

Instead of "Plussing" attractions there, go ahead and close them and make the Cue a Meet and Greet.

Don't forget the "must see" Carnival Games area. That's guranteed to fill at least an hour of your day, and double the cost of admission, parking, food, drinks and anything else you could imagine to purchase that day...

I totally can't blame guests for asking if the animals on the walkthroughs (yea, these are listed as actual attractions at NotAZoo) are Robots or not. They do keep the Poo much cleaner her than the local Zoo --- Er NotAZoo. Oh, and don't forget that here in Columbus, you can see THE EXACT SAME BIRD SHOW WITH THE EXACT SAME NAME as WDW offers. Why not plop down the hour of the day to get a great seat and enjoy that one....

There's a reason i put most POTENTIAL this park is no where near done

Oh, and the falling apart walkways and Covered areas for the Camp Minnie Mickey are about the sadest thing on property. Not to mention the fact that --

As you leave Africa, you will see the Camping Follies of Disney's Classic Characters in their North American Camping setting, complete with Scout Uniforms and Everything... jus to make your way to --- AFRICA -- Yeah, you leave Africa just to get to Africa where the Head Cheese and his friends are now in their Safari Garb and getting you ready for the Lion King Show. Monsters Inc in Tomorrowland has nothing on this theming tragedy.

But you know what -- Maybe they can start following through with some of the promises of the park that are ETCHED IN THE LOGO AND ON EVERY BENCH -- or is the imaginary figure of the dragon (You know the one that is front and center on the logo. The one that the eyes go directly too. The one that's bigger that all the other animals on it making you think -- THIS MUST BE IMPORTANT. The one that makes you say -- THAT'S THE DISNEY EDGE THAT I WANT ON MY ZOO!!!!) continue to remain imaginary in the parks as well?

Maybe they can show more on the 12 minute train ride to nowhere (you know the place that could have been built right where the train station is instead of spending the money to add a pointless train just so you can walk another half mile back to the Conservation Station) than the back sides of the Rhino Bins. As fun as the Back Side of Rhino Bins are, couldn't you have ANYTHING on the ride to look at to justify its purpose? Did I mention that it would have also been nice to go ahead and extend the train track just a tiny bit further so you didn't have another pointless hike to the Conservation Station? Oh, and why isn't the Conservation Station inside Asia -- Because the 2 train trips and extra walking will take another 40 minutes of your day away and think that you are actually doing something in the park to fill up your day.

Fixing DAK

I'd like to see them address your concerns. The potential is there to be the best park at WDW. They could rather easily create more "Continents" with Dinoland (after removing dinorama) being converted to Austrailia. The train actually could be used as part of a South America section (Amazon rain forest). CMM could easily be converted to a North America section (or the original BK) with Lion King moving to Africa and actually getting a decent theater which it deserves. The area containing Planet Watch could be converted to an indoor Arctic theme too if the train tracks were rerouted slightly to create a trail. I am not sure why they don't make these type investments. Does DAK make money with all the animal care etc.? It's almost like they don't want it to outshine the other parks even though the potential seems limitless.

My favorite people eater in the park though is Flame Tree BBQ. It can take 15 minutes to "find a table". Not because it's busy, that's just to "find a table". Don't worry, the Birds of Prey will get you back up and moving quick enough that your total time at the table will only be 3-5 minutes. It's escaping the place where it becomes tricky. The adventure reminds me of the Haunted Mansion ... as you try to "find a way out". So, tick off another 40 minutes of your day for the maze -- wait a minute -- who needs a Unicorn Maze when you can just hit this CS location!

Add that to the 40 minute Nemo show (Couldn't just be 23 minutes, wouldn't want to let the crowds loose with too much time on their hands) and the 40 minutes running back and forth from the Conservation Station, and you've eaten a HUGE chunk of your day. When's that 3 o'clock parade again?

Dead on in every single respect jimbo! Bravo!

I never understood the high praise that seems to be heaped on the half-baked woulda-coulda-shoulda-been Animal Kingdom. Beyond Everest, the Nemo musical and portions of Dinoland (yes, I "get" the deliberate Route 66 theming and thought it clever), Animal Kingdom is a total bust.

When I visited last, granted during one of the busiest times of the year, I waited nearly 2 1/2 hours to ride the safari ride, only to see a handful of animals dozing in the hot afternoon heat. Never again will I ride that safari ride. No way, no how.

In the future, I'll alot just under half a day to the park to ride Everest, maybe catch Nemo and then bolt for something more interesting.

Well, if you don't care at all for Animal Kingdom, then I'll enjoy my scenic walks, lush theming, expansive vistas, world-class thrill attractions and Disney magic with a few less people in line.

Animal Kingdom was NEVER supposed to be another Magic Kingdom. It's meant to be taken it at a slower pace, to look, listen and learn rather than run to the next attraction. :animwink:

I actualy like the Safari. I think it's a great mix of a little thrill.. some wind in your face, and an actual ride that lasts more than 10 minutes. There isn't another Disney Ride at any park that offers an experience with that much thrill that is longer than 3 minutes. Everest -- just another coaster. Why the heck is the stupid Yeti even in the thing to wave at you for 2.3 seconds? What a waste of $$$ and another venture that feel short of the hype. Mummy is 10 x the experience and really pulls you into the thrill of the event that is the attraction.

Okay. Lion King. The pride of the Disney Decade. Very nice show on first run. Snoozy the second run. And a complete Suck-Dis-O-Lame any time there after. I was watching my AK Fun With Flick Sing-A-Long the other night witht he kids and wondered why they couldn't use the "He lives in you" song in the actual show instead of all the fart jokes??? It has potential to be a major event show, but falls flat by there being NO STORY WHAT SO EVER. It totally lacks the magic and flow of both VOTLM and BatB shows at DHS.

Wow, biggest.rant.ever.
Sounded like me talking about how 'sounds dangerous' is the worst ride ever made.

I hear your frustrations though as some of those things have really bothered me about AK.

But,
IMHO AK is amazing in the sense that I feel truly immersed into the fantasy as the amount of detail is mind-boggling. Take the loading/line area for KRR. I'm always taking pictures in there because there are so many amazing, well-done things to look at.

Same w/ EE. Man, the details blow my mind.

Dinosaur I think is the future of dark rides. Not the content per say, but the way the vehicle moves around feels like an actual 4x4.

KS is one of the best/hilite experiences that Disney offers.

TTBAB very fun. tied for best 3d movie w/ philharmagic.

With those said: this park will be the best when it has enough rides. They need at least 2 more E tickets and 3-5 more dark rides. Jurassic Soarin' anyone?

Potential is key here.
Lets just hope they keep living up to that potential
