The way members deal with spam on this website...

umm...I didn't post in the original thread, so I WAS letting Steve or the mods handle it. Please, how did I not follow my own adivce?

When I say follow your own advice, I mean it's not your job to point out what we did wrong, in your opinion. Steve or the Mods can let us know without your help.

My intentions are truly not to "stir the pot." I'm not trying to make trouble or "point" fingers. You can't honestly believe that the way members acted on that thread was appropriate? I frankly, was surprised at that collective reaction. So, I felt compelled to make this thread.

Does it really do any harm? Frankly, after re-reading my post, I just truly can't see how what I wrote was confronatational. In fact, I find it difficult to believe that what I wrote could be remotely misinterpreted in that fashion.

Explain this paragraph if you were not stirring the pot or being confrontational.

As has been discussed many times (according to Steve's rules), the way to deal with SPAM (or posts that you deem to be SPAM) is to simply flag it. DO NOT RESPOND. DO NOT MAKE JOKES. DO NOT MAKE INSULTS TO THE SPAMMER (most of the time the spammer doesn't come back to the thread ANYWAY). By responding, you are actually bumping the thread to the top (just what the spammer wants).

Were you quoting Steve or yelling or what? No quotation marks, and all caps means yelling so I guess I'm a little confused.

So, I will rephrase my point. From now on, If you think something is SPAM, just do not post. It's truly the most logical thing to do. Not so hard to do nothing, eh?

I too will rephrase my point. From now on if you don't think folks are acting the way you think they should let Steve or the Mods tell them. I'll even rephrase my quote for ya. "People in glass houses shouldn't throw stones."

Like I said when I gave you the good rep, no hard feelings here. We all have our opinions. I think I may have been a little sensitive since I was the first to call it spam. My spam post was really more of a warning, but I shouldn't have replied to start with.

I do agree that maybe we should look at our own actions and not tell others how to act. If we all did that maybe the world would be a little nicer.

O.K. enough of the sappy stuff. Move on folks nothing to see here. :lol:

I honestly believe everyone has/had good intentions (except the spammer). I do appreciate whoever it was to first point it out over there that it was spam, because quite honestly, I wouldn't have known. I would have thought I was just out of the loop after I clicked on the picture (since I don't know any wrestlers). So I do appreciate the people who point it out in the beginning....Thank You. After it's pointed out though it is good to let it get reported by the rest of us.

I also am glad this thread was started, I don't see that it was done as ill will either. Just a way to help other members know how to deal with spam. So thank You for this thread as well.

Also, on the other thread, I actually appreciated someone pointing out to give a bad rep, (or positive if others liked it)...because so many times I forget about the rep system. Again, after one person points it out then we all should let the thread die and report and give reps as we see fit.

I truly like everyone on here, and I think everyone here has the boards in their best interest. Whatever we do, lets not let others tear us apart, that's just what they want.
