Sounds bad, but personally I am mostly a theme park fan.

IF Disney theme parks were allowed to stand alone and all the money Disney theme parks made would STAY WITH THE THEME PARKS, maybe this could be good?

I guess we gotta see what happens.

One thing is clear. Bob Iger got TWDC into this mess. I do think he's the one that can get the company out of it. He got Pelt to back off the last time, he's got to do it again.

I don’t know how you get him to back off when he has upped his stake so considerably. Maybe he really didn’t “back off” last time he’s just been biding his time.

Iger drove the stock to a 10 year low, so that sure did help Peltz up his stake.

Maybe Iger can talk his way out of trouble again.

I love how people think Perlmutter is just some random investor coming to break up the company. They all forget he was CEO of Marvel at the creation of Marvel Cinematic Universe. They forget Marvel movies were much more entertaining (and Profitable) when he was in charge verses what Disney is doing with Marvel today. Who would be a better guy to get ideas from to improve the MCU then him? A company would have to be pretty dumb and self absorbed not to want his input. That would be like buying Star Wars and throwing out all of George Lucas' notes and refusing all his input and just making up random new stuff. No company is that stupid.

This is utterly laughable. Perlmutter was incredibly cheap and made a series of petty, awful decisions that harmed the comics and would have done irreparable damage to the films. He has NO creative instincts at all, only greed. The early MCU was driven by Avi Arad and, quickly, Feige, who Perlmutter hated.

This is utterly laughable. Perlmutter was incredibly cheap and made a series of petty, awful decisions that harmed the comics and would have done irreparable damage to the films. He has NO creative instincts at all, only greed. The early MCU was driven by Avi Arad and, quickly, Feige, who Perlmutter hated.

Exactly. We can debate the current quality of the MCU, but only a clown would suggest keeping Feige was an error on Iger’s part. He has made Disney a fortune and his overall track record is fantastic. If I were to criticize anything re: Iger and Marvel, it would be approving such weak Marvel lands for DCA and WDSP.

I don’t think we need to take anyone seriously if they claim leadership that gave us Infinity War and Endgame were unsuccessful. If those weren’t profitable, nothing was.

The challenge for Marvel is replicating that success. I’m not sure how they do it. Tom Holland will only do so much as the Friendly Neighborhood Moneymaker. And they gave him a crappy ride.

You mean input like all black people look the same?

In charge while the MCU flourished, but not because of him. He also was not the creative force behind it... and also was sidelined for his meddling in negative ways to that successful product.

He was also around in and charge when Marvel went bankrupt.. and when they did horrible deals with Universal Studios and Fox studios.

His prior reign isn't exactly a shining resume.

You are absolutely incorrect. The MCU was an overwhelmingly producer-driven phenomenon. Feige designed an engine that produced dozens of high-quality hits, even if it sometimes came at the expense of individual auteurist visions. In fact, Favreau was frustrated by how little control he had over Iron Man 2 - one of only 2 films he directed, of course. No producer in history has achieved what Feige did - whatever happens from here on out, he’s in the pantheon with Thalberg.
