The Walking Dead Season 4

I hate to say it, but I've found this season to be bordering on dull. I know, we're early into it, so I'll be patient. On the other hand, do any of you watch Anerican Horror Story? OMG, that show puts the petal to the metal and does not let go. Asylum last season was insane and amazing. Coven this season started at full throttle and has not let up for a second.
Both shows have a lot of, "Really? You can't be serious," moments.
The Walking Dead wants you to take it seriously and those moments make it hard to sometimes. Horror Story just embraces the stupid and ramps it up into a giant ball of crazy that is just ridiculously entertaining.

Okay, its nice that the new showrunner wanted to create an multi-layered antagonist who the viewer could even on some level identify with. A complex villain is always interesting. But, the ship sailed on The Governor being that villain the moment he gunned down his men because they irritated him. Trying to humanize him now is just not going to work.

Last night's episode moved slower than a two legged turtle. I kept saying "maybe something will happen soon......maybe something will happen soon....."

And then the credits rolled.

I had it spoiled like 2 minutes before I turned the episode on  and that annoyance really hurt my ability to enjoy the episode. As for the Governor, he started to wear on me last season and I liked the direction the show took before his return. So I'm ready to move on from him finally.

More happened on this last episode than on the entire season that preceded it. I don't know who thought we needed to follow the Governor for so many episodes just so-------

Spoiler alert

Spoiler alert

----- he could be killed off in the last episode. The previous episodes seem like such a waste of time. We already knew what a psyco the Governor was. We didn't really need a whole track to humanize him just to kill him off.

But, I did love last night's episode. Finally something happened!

Personally, I liked the descent into madness of the Governor that they did in the TV show. You never really got to see that in the comics. He was just full blow power hungry psychopath almost from day one. IMHO, it made the whole character a little scarier as the Governor was more than likely just your average guy like you or me before this all went down. I don't need every episode to have a 500 round of ammunition minimum for me to like it.

Join me, together we can rule the galaxy.
Very well done episode IMHO, great mid-season finale.

Very sad to see Hershel die, especially given the way he was killed but am very happy to see Rick & Co. out of the prison and back to wondering around scavenging for supplies to survive. The method and brutality of The Governor's death with Rick's beat down, Michonne impaling him with her katana, and Lilly shooting him really emphasized the level of distain the characters had for him. The implied death of baby Judith was also a bit tough to swallow but would have greatly limited Rick & Carl's ability to move and survive on their own but still a bit rough.

February 9th second half premier is coming fast though.

Judith is alive and with Tyrese and the girls. Episode 9 will be almost direct from the comic and they will be introducing the Alexandria arch at the end of the season.
