The unvarnished truth about availability?

That's the way DVC works. If you have the back up rservation for OKW, at least you know you'll be in one place or the other.

If you're not the enamored with OKW, Saratoga Springs is closer to Downtown Disney and usually has availability. Bus service is good, and if you request Downtown Disney view, you have a good chance of getting it provided you check in early in the day.

I also just booked Animal Kingdom Villas for the first week of January with plenty of availability for savannah view, but value and standard view were already taken.

We've stayed at Saratoga before and loved it! OKW is fine, like I said, we've never stayed there before so it will be cool...it's just no Boardwalk, you know? Maybe I should have her check the better views?

I just got off the phone with my friend and he is going to pass on your advice to his mother about the "better" rooms...if this works, you are my new best friend Carolina!!! Did I mention I went to UNCW speaking of Carolina???

We are going through this right now! Our friends parents own at OKW and tried to book us two studios at BWV the first week of January '09. There wasn't any availability so we are on the waitlist.

I was a little confused as to why one of the most down times at WDW would be sold out already??? I guess DVC members will go during the "down" times because of the lower point requirements??? Is that true? If so, then how could you be assured to be able to switch your ressie even during a supposed slow period??? :veryconfu

DVC members do tend to go in the down times, since it's less points. That's why there is nothing available the first 2 weeks in dec.

Well, my friend was a cast member when his parents bought the DVC membership so turns out he is an "associate" on the ownership! To make a long story short, he called in and we have confirmed ressies for Boardwalk for 5 of our 7 days, with a waitlist spot for the other two days!!! (last two of the week) Needless to say we are completely stoked at this point!! Even if we have to move over to OKW for the last two days...no big deal.

Thanks so much for all your help and advice everyone!!! Boardwalk...here we come!!!
