I've been MIA for about a week now and it looks like I'm taking the internet by storm!
I have been out of state taking care of my dad after a minor surgery. He has no internet/computer. It was a very LONG week!!! Didn't even get to run the RnR 10K in Brooklyn. :( (But I did run 10.5 miles the day I was supposed to run the race)

I absolutely love this Mark! Thank you so much for putting it together. My kids think it's hysterical.
You definitely can't miss my DAY-GLO yellow outfit!

As discussed yesterday, I hope your dad is better and on the road to recovery.

Looks like the 2013 Tower 10-miler will be in October in 2013. Someone posted the PDF for the WDW Marathon Weekend Family Fun 5K brochure, and on the first page it lists the Tower 10-miler to be taking place in October, not end of September. The brochure was posted in the WDW General Discussion forum.

When exactly? Don't know. Maybe it will be the first or second weekend of October. Maybe Oct. 4-5, 2013? The Wine and Dine Half Weekend is Nov. 8-9, 2013, so any time later in the month might conflict with set-up / prep for Wine and Dine.

And the 2014 Walt Disney World Marathon weekend is Jan. 9-14, 2014 (*wink, wink* *hint, hint*).

Hmm...Interesting... Oct does seem more appropriate for the Tower of Terror race!

According to the runDisney website, the ToT 10-Miler Weekend is scheduled for October 4th and 5th this year. Registration is $135 by March 26th, but I don't think you can register yet.

WOW a 10 miler that might be an easier goal for me. Bought a good pair of shoes and really really want a goal to shoot for. Can I ask a question? How do you guys find out about all the Disney running events, just go on the site? Thanks, I'm new at this but am so excited about joining the running community. It's snowing now so I didn't get out this am but looking forward to tomorrow morning!

First of all Welcome to the running community. This board is a great group of motivating people!

As for event info---www.rundisney.com is the official website for Disney races. They will have the dates and information regarding upcoming events.

The Tower of Terror 10 miler is a fun race and a good one to ease into the Disney racing family. Good luck with your training.

Thanks so much for the welcome, I think I'll visualize myself running that 10K at TOT especially today when it's snowing outside!

It is not a 10K (6.2 miles). It is a 10-mile run. I trained and ran the initial event in September 2012, and it was quite popular. Very congested with runners and walkers. Over 10,000 runners and walkers. It is a Disney running event, so I sort of knew what to expect.

Don't know what it will be like in the first weekend of October weather-wise. The 2012 Tower 10 miler was around 80 at start with 80-90 percent humidity. Very humid run.

I would suggest reading back about 10-15 pages in this thread topic to get a feel of how some of us trained and ran the 2012 race. Personally, I thought it was a great run though I ran at a slower pace because there were so many runners. Didn't get "space" until at least mile 4, but for the entire course I was weaving in and out of slower runners and walkers. Of course, when I stopped for a water break some runners passed me.

If you want to get a head-start on training for the 2013 10-miler, there are downloadable training documents from runDisney that can help you.

Good luck!

Welcome! They also have 5K fun runs but they aren't timed. I first found out about Disney running when I happened to be there one Marathon weekend and had to find out what was with all the cones in the road! But yes, go to rundisney.com or better yet, here!

Yup, runDisney posted that Tower of Terror 10 miller 2013 registration starts on Mardi Gras, Feb. 12. Yup - $135 entry fee to start.

Unfortunately I have decided to run an extra 5k and have entered myself in the 2013 Disneyland Half, and will follow with the 2013 Wine and Dine Half to try and get that elusive coast to coast medal. I'm not entering the 2013 Tower 10-miler. Hopefully it won't be the humidity fun right like it was in 2012.

And wow, $135 entry to start. I paid $90 for the inaugural 2012 10-miler, and a pin, which brought the total to $111 with taxes. That was in mid-March before the pricing went up and the race was over 50-percent full if I recall.

Wonder what the reason for the jump in price is? Popularity of running at Disney?

In all honesty after paying $175 ($200 something for exclusive pin and taxes) for the Disneyland Half and $175 (likely $200 with pin and tax) hopefully for the Wine and Dine Half, that will be it for me for running at a runDisney race. I'm challenging myself this year and so far I have run a half marathon in Baton Rouge, and I entered in the last 6 weeks. Even with a military discount I paid just under $100. I might try the Louisiana Half in 2014 again and the USAF Half Marathon in September 2014.

I'll be on site on these days, but I'm not going to pay $135 to run a 10-miler.

Pretty much. They can charge it, and suckers like us will still come to run it. Wouldn't be at all surprised if someone saw how fast the DLR weekend sold out, and got greedy. The race prices keep creeping up each year. And as I said last year, the cost difference in a 10mi vs 1/2 marathon isn't that much. Looking at maybe 1 less water stop, but the rest of the infrastructure still exists, not to mention the costs of the post race party.
