Pre-Trip The trip that is all Tuvalu's fault.

The title isn't meant to be a bait and switch... Really. This trip may never have happened if it wasn't for @Tuvalu and @TrolleyFollower91 so I am truly grateful that they have shared so many of their trips together. I've always thought of Disney being a whole family trip until the kids got older and I realized it's a great place for adults only and now a mother daughter trip. :inlove:

This trip is a Mother Daughter trip.

Who: Me and C! C is graduating from High School in a couple of months and heading off to college to study Musical Theater Studies. The only things she loves more than Musicals is Disney and honestly it may be a tie.

Here are a few pictures of C through the years at Disney: She's the blond middle child.

C is a vegetarian. Her favorite QS was a sandwich at Columbia Harbour House. They no longer serve it. If anyone has a favorite vegetarian dish or know of places that has a variety and could share C would be grateful. I'm hoping she won't get stuck eating flatbreads and veggie burgers at the all QS. I did learn from @bee to ask if a vegetarian menu is available for our TS restaurants so we'll definitely do that.
Yes, always ask! Even if they don't have a separate menu most servers will either point out what is already veggie as is, or can be modified easily. I've never actually spoken to a chef and I've always had plenty of choices.

Many or most QS have at least one option on the menu, and many or most can modify a meat item to give you something besides a veggie burger/flatbread. Peco Bill is my go-to QS in MK for the bean and/or vegetable nachos. In Epcot I like to get the Nudel Gratin from the QS in Germany (but beware, it's suuuuper rich and I usually share with my wife!). The France bakery has great quiches. Last I checked there was a veggie sushi option from the Japan QS. Of course Sunshine Seasons has many choices as well.

If you have a little downtime at the resort, walk across the bridge to AoA and check out their food court. It's been awhile since I've been there but they had an amazing fried green tomato sandwich last time I went.

Most of this is assuming your daughter is lacto-ovo and not vegan. Of course there are options everywhere but I'm not as well versed in them.

Bee, you're fantastic! C is a lacto vegetarian, she'll love the France bakery. Peco Bill's not so much, She isn't the biggest nacho fan. Not sure why...my son doesn't like pizza. I'm not sure what's wrong with my kids. The Nudel Gratin is another great one!

I'm not a vegetarian but we were looking at menus and I saw that the Plaza had a fried green tomato sandwich that I'm tempted to get for myself. It sounds delicious!!.

Thanks Again!! I hope all is well with you.

I'm in! I have to admit, I get a little teary thinking of my Sweet Harper (only 3 right now) growing up and going to college! I hope we can do many mother/daughter trips as we get older!
Everyone told me they'd grow up fast, I never believed them. I can't believe she's 18. She has had so many different stages in her 18 years, it's been my own little rollercoaster.

I'm so excited for this trip! 66 DAYS!! I just can't wait!

Sounds like you have a great trip planned I have also seen the advertised fried green tomato sandwich and wanted to try it ever since and I am not a veggie either!
Thanks Gurt!

Following, and anxiously awaiting your trip report. This trip sounds so special and you will have many great memories to share before she goes on to college life.
My grown daughter usually "surprises" us on our vacations to WDW each year, for a few days. Those times are so special, even if only for a few days! Our schedules are too different at this time, so no girl trips only.
I know you will have a wonderful time, and you get away from a cold winter too!

I do father daughter trips a lot lately with my C, Ciarra. It is fun and on the short trips we go Disney commando, lots park action little sleep. It's a special time. Actually it is just as special when my other kids go but that just doesn't happen enough. I guess I will have to work on that. We are going to just miss you by a week. We have a father daughter trip July 4th thru the 8th.

I do not like tomatoes, but I love fried green tomatoes. I tried them for the first time on a burger in the POR food court last year, and they were SOOOOOO good. It reminded me of a non-tangy fried pickle.

That sounded great to me too, but I've seen pictures... did you know they put red tomatoes in the sandwich too? Don't mix my green tomatoes with red ones... it seems like it would mess with the flavor!
I'll try one for us and let you know!

She is a big ball of drama, believe me. Tonight she drove the few hours to the college she's going to to audition for Rocky Horror Picture Show that they do every fall. Her and her dad are on their way back so hopefully they'll have good news!!

I'm super late to this party, but I'm in! Sounds like a great trip! I can't wait to hear all of the details!
So glad you joined!

It's great that your daughter can join you for a bit during your trips. And if you can believe it, the temperature reached 68 today. It was Heaven. I can't wait for that warm florida sunshine.

Your trips sounds like how ours will end up... very little sleep. Too bad we'll miss you. Anyone with the name Big Hair is worth a meet. :joyfull: J once had more hair than me but we're products of the 80's.

Reading along!! Great plans so far. Looking forward to the rest!

My next goal is a sister-brother trip (he will be 16 when I want to take him, and I will be *gasp* 40 [he's adopted hence the age diff]...maybe I can inspire that angle a la Tuvalu's mother-daughter trips. :hilarious:
Thanks for reading. A sibling trip would be great too....depending on the siblings. :hilarious: You though would be an awesome big sister!!

Mother-Daughter trips are simply THE BEST!!!! :D:D:D:happy::happy::happy::joyfull::joyfull: Here's hoping you have a magical time enjoying each other's company! Here's hoping you also get quality time with your other girls on trips elsewhere in the future!
Mom and I are off on a "just us" adventure this summer and it will be so fun to be together without anybody else!

Thanks! We have daily talks about our trip, the anticipation is so exciting! My other daughter and I are taking a wine trip the weekend before, that ought to be interesting, wining with a daughter is going to seem weird. I hope you have a great time on your trip too!
