At least how the technology stands right now, you won't be seeing these in character greetings anytime soon. The mechanics of the heads are too loud for close-quarters "viewing".
Also, while not giving TOO much away, the choreography needs to be worked in such a way that there are a LOT of arm movements to help disguise how the movement is really being controlled. So this may or may not work in all parade and show situations. Or, perhaps with parade situations where the character can be tethered to the float with a cable, they could potentially take the control away from the Cast Member and have the float's on-board computer sync the movements to the audio.
