The "Spirit of New" Pre-Trip Report

Well... it's official! We will be heading back to the world in less than a month! :D This trip is sorely needed. We are a family that typically goes once, if not twice, a year... and we haven't been since September 2011! We promised ourselves we'd skip 2012 in favor of waiting for New Fantasyland to open and somehow we did it. Sure I cried every time I saw a Disney Parks commercial but we made it!

Goal: In the spirit of the opening of New Fantasyland, we want to focus as much of this trip on doing things we've never done before (or haven't as a family) and breaking out of our routine as much as possible. We're going to catch shows we've never seen and parades we've skipped in the past etc.

Dates: Monday, March 4th - Friday, March 8th

Cast: Jenn/Mommy (me), Bill/Daddy and Aaron (DS6)

Logistics

Resort: We had originally planned to stay in a Cars Suite at AoA to fuel the "new" theme but our budget isn't as open as I had hoped so we've decided to stay at Pop Century, where we've only been once before, so it's close to being a "new" experience. We figure we can walk over and check out the new resort and still get a great view!

Tickets: 5 Day Park Hopper

Other Stuff: Dining Plan, PhotoPass + and Behind the Seeds

Dining

ADRs: Teppan Edo (dinner), Sci-Fi Dine-In (dinner), Crystal Palace (breakfast) and Tusker House (breakfast)

All but Crystal Palace and brand new experiences for us!!

EDIT: Just added dinner at San Angel Inn too! :D
Edit again... Cancelled San Angel in favor of another first... Biergarten!

EDIT AGAIN! ONE table opened up for the Dessert Party on Tuesday so we've cancelled Teppan Edo and we're going back to the party! SOOO HAPPY!!

Cupcakes: We plan to eat the following cupcakes (yes, this is a plan and worthy of the pre-trip report lol): Peanut Butter (Main Street Bakery), Guava Cheesecake (The Land), Caramel Corn (Germany), Butterfinger (Starring Rolls), White Chocolate Elephant (Kusafiri Coffee Shop), Strawberry Shortcake (Boardwalk Bakery), Spiced Apple (Contempo Cafe), Chocolate Macadameia Nut (Captain Cook's)

Quick Service: No specific list here other than to say we always eat the same QS meals and this time we're going to do our best not to! :)

And... I dunno how we managed this but there is only ONE attraction closed for refurb that week (Splash)!

I'm so jealous! Yours is in the beginning of March! Mine is at the end. I have to use those spring break hours! I hope you enjoy Behind the Seeds. I've been eyeing that tour for some time now. I will see how I feel about the ride first, and then go from there.

Hope you have a wonderful time!

Ohhh yeah we were originally planning for Spring Break but the more I talked to folks the more I realized that while DS is young, pull him out of school in favor of not dealing with Spring Break Madness. :D

*siiiigh* I wish I could do that. Just skip school. Buuuut I'm a senior in college. Skipping School = no bueno! Especially if you wanna graduate. I have found that even during busy spring break, being at Disney is still better than being at home! I always find the magic, regardless of crowds.

Ok so I just had this nagging "I should plan one more thing" thing happening so I just booked us one more ADR at San Angel Inn on the night we are doing Behind the Seeds! :D
Curious on your feed back here also! Love the vibe here but we had bad food a few years back. I really want to try it again.

HA! Your killing me! We ate here in December, the meat eaters were very happy! The pretzel bread is a winner! The show is very entertaining! ENJOY!
LOL! :D Sorry sorry! Like I said though we chose to change it because we've done San Angel before so I can at least share what I remember to cover your first post. LOL! We loved the food. It was fantastic. We loved the atmosphere (we were right against El Rio Del Tiempo -- and that tells you how long ago it was). But it wasn't really anything different than we can get locally at a good Mexican place. Sure the experience was but when we started considering Biergarten instead, it totally won. :D

I can't believe our luck... just randomly I decided to check to see if there were any openings for the Tomorrowland Terrace Dessert Party (something I had checked at least 10 times before) and BAM one showed up. We grabbed it, cancelled Teppan Edo and are now doing the party on Tuesday the 5th! SO FLIPPIN' EXCITED! We've done it once and for us it was so worth it! You know something is a big deal when we completely rethink our plans for two straight days just to make it a reality.

I feel so horrible though. I immediately contacted a friend who is going to be at the world the same time and told her. She'd never done it and she got ready to book it too. Turns out we got the last table and it was only because someone had cancelled... so it was fantastic luck for us but I got her all excited and then she couldn't book. I even called to see if we could make our table of 3 a table of 5 but nope!

We'll be stopping in Jax on the 3rd. :) Trust me I lived there for a little over 2 years... I totally know what you mean about being so close yet so far. LOL! DS6 is looking forward to our stop in Jax because he wants to see the hospital he was born it. It'll be fun! :D
