UNIVERSAL'S WORLDS OF WONDER

Shoutouts for the Valley of Stories
@Disney Dad 3000 and @D Hulk - the dynamic duo from past SA seasons together again, creating one of the most elaborate and elegantly themed intros to a theme park we have ever had coupled with @Architectural Guinea Pig @NateD1226 with the nighttime show and very strong newcomer @Mr. Sullivan to create this masterpiece.

VALLEY OF FANTASY
@Outbound @Imagineer Brandon

Welcome to Middle Earth... love the illustrations that open up this book, it feels like you're opening up a Tolkien novel for the first time. While I'm a big fan of maps, I can appreciate the timing and scale of this project, so a simple comparison to the scale of the land with focusing on the Super Nintendo World of Epic Universe is plenty to paint the picture of the scaling of this land. Which has a lot in it!

- The Shire/There and Back Again
A relaxing river ride through Middle Earth - I couldn't think of an attraction that I would want to ride more in a Hobbit/LotR land than this - a cross between Storybook Canals among other boat rides, this is the perfect intro to the land in my opinion. I like how it feels like this ride meanders through the Shire and out to Bag end and throughout the areas of the land that you will explore in the novel, such as the Wood Elves and the Lonely Mountain.

The Old Forest
- Tom Bombadil & Goldberry's Magic Show - love this small children's magic show in the middle of the forest, again a shaded area almost like a D zone in the land to entertain children. Even though this isn't technically in The Hobbit, I think continuity wise this gets a pass seeing as this is inspired by Middle Earth.

Rivendell (Middle Earth - West)
Nearby the Misty Mountains, Lord Elrond's Table reminds me of Beast's Castle at the Magic Kingdom in a way, which will be a great dining experience for all. I also like how it has recurring 20 minute shows sung in native languages - amazing!

Riddles in the Dark
Gollum Meet & Greet, I can see this being a popular stop, and you can use your journal from the inkwell to perhaps get a signature from Gollum, just as long as you're not wearing any jewelry for him to steal!

Beorn's Hall
I like the menu for this eatery as well - the Honey Cake sounds amazing!

Mirkwood Forest
Love the description that leads up to this area of the land - 'massive crystalline lanterns' is such a great descriptive piece for the Wood Elves home.

Smaug's Fury
The main E-ticket of the land - while I wouldn't expect anyone to know this who designed the land (maybe only @Voxel or @MonorailRed who played in SA Season 2) for project 4 of that season the winning concept was a Lord of the Rings land done by Team Air and @englanddg in Islands of Adventure (which is still there in the SAU till this day) and in that land is also a Smaug coaster, but not as descriptive as this one here! At 200ft the Lonely Mountain will definitively be an icon of the park (as it should be) and this indoor steel coaster I'm sure will be a hit with all sorts of fans from coaster enthusiasts to novel enthusiasts.

While the Lord of the Rings website from Season 2 is lost, you can find the original review of it from the SYWTBAI Youtube channel here (starts at 28:38)

Laketown - a nice little quaint area at the foothills of the Lonely Mountain, I feel like this will be a great place for photos!

ENDICOTT HARBOR

@JokersWild @OSUPhantom @Lord Fozzinator

The backstory to this land is a project in and of itself. Such great writing to lead up to what this land is about and how it came to be. It almost feels like this park is a pseudo World's Fair of Literature, where each sub-land is its own community with its own backstory - it's truly incredible to read and see.

I also like how the backstory essentially describes the layout of the harbor while staying in the novel-esque diction. The first person perspective of the narration also provides the reader a sense of exploration themselves through the land.

The Horror Beneath Endicott
In part III, I think that is my favorite use of the term 'ululations' I have read in a book before. I'm not sure why, but I love strong diction. This Lovecraft walk-through I think will be a hit for both Halloween Horror nights fanatics but also those who want to experience a nuanced walk-through full of practical effects. I think writing this in the first person as well to continue through the backstory and land description was the best way to get the mood of this attraction across. Great job overall with this area.

Joyland
This rotting traveling carnival area is a creepy but incredible way of portraying King's works without having it feel too disconnected. Not only are circuses at times creepy, but it's a way to evoke things like IT seamlessly, along with a myriad of other options from King's collection.

The Carousel, and other carnival like attractions are an easy way to bump of the land's overall attractions, while also provided an ominous overtone to the area. While on paper these are kids attractions, I feel like adults will ride them much more than kids which will create a unique dynamic that only this land could embody.

Say Cheese and Barbecue
Overall a nice way of including Goosebumps into the area. While perhaps a bit disconnected from the remainder of the land, I think it offers a more light horror element to coincide with the darker tones and backstory of Endicott.

-------------------------------------

THE OLD WORLD

@JokersWild @MickeyWaffleCo.

If Endicott was a pseudo permanent Autumn feel, the transition to a permanent winter land with A Christmas Carol among other European works would be a great touch. While this land is for future expansion I will say that I do like the inclusion of A Christmas Carol as a dark ride - feels sort of like a mix of Mr Toad and the Haunted Mansion. Very creative!

UNIVERSAL'S WORLDS OF WONDER

PORT FUTURA
@TheOriginalTiki @AceAstro @Lizzy May Bee

While this land originally started as a Dune centric land, I like the idea of the cosmic wormhole allowing for a multitude of concepts to exist in this sci-fi land. While I think this land also would have been great as a Dune specific land - I do see the desire for wanting to have multiple novels active in the land to coincide with the remaining lands which all follow that format.

Korova Milkbar
Well not exactly the blue milk from Star Wars, the Clockwork Orange drinks definitely bring a new vibe to theme park drinks. While this is definitely on the more mature side and would go great on a Halloween Horror night special, I think Universal can run the risk of more mature themes and still be accepted to the masses vs a Disney park, so kudos for pushing the edge on this one. And great menu as well.

Squidzville - a Watchmen Sushi Experience
This concept is definitely bold and adds to the oddities of this land. A full blown skyline of NYC mixed with alien amalgamations is definitely an iconic aspect of this land. Just curious how tall we are talking here and whether this is more on the Streets of America size in terms of scale or hundreds of feet tall for what amounts to a restaurant.

War of the Worlds
With these drop towers being 200ft off the ground, that lines up perfectly with the Lonely Mountain and adds to the skyline of the park. I like this aspect as I feel like this is one of those classic novels turned Universal films - it would be a shame to not include it.

1984 Walkthrough
I really like how the finale of this breaks the brainwashing element and uses an effect similar to that of MMRR to break the cycle and escape!

Dune: War of the Riders
This E-ticket was what I was looking forward to most when thinking of this project. Seeing how popular Dune is now and coupled with Harry Potter being a Warner Bros property in Universal parks - I was hoping someone would jump on Dune and make an immersive attraction out of this (as the film itself is almost on the level of an attraction). I really like basically every element of this attraction and think it is one of the standout aspects of the park as a whole. From the illustrations to the passion behind the scene descriptions as well as the visual immersion, this is sure to be a hit for generations to come.

----------------------------------

PORT MYTHICA

Featuring the Indian Epic Mahabharata

@D Hulk @Pi on my Cake @Disney Dad 3000 @Architectural Guinea Pig

Taking advantage of the geographic area of this park to embed a land inspired by the culture of the locals is a great touch - and this land true does stand out from the rest with its use of architecture from the old worlds of India and infusing it with the romanticized influence of Bollywood among other culturally significant elements.

Starting off the map by AGP is incredible and connects to the Valley of Stories so seamlessly. I feel like I have used that term over and over in this review because it remains true that this park, despite being designed by multiple teams, somehow connected together in a seamless fashion like this land here.

Jatayu: King of the Vultures
This flying coaster reminds me of The Flying Dinosaur in Universal Studios Japan and one of the pictures even illustrates that comparison. Love a good LSM launch coaster and especially one that provides kinetic energy to the land seeing coaster trains flying overhead. At 140 feet this steel track will be seen from other lands which will act as a weenie of sorts to bring the thrill seekers to this area.

The trail through the rocky realm of Chadayamangalam adds to the mythology of the area and almost reminds me of the queue for Expedition Everest in a way. The rocky terrain gives me vibes of Taron at Phantasialand, and going through the Yana limestone mazes would provide a breath-taking vista through near-misses and out into the sprawling finale.

Mahabharata!
This live music show provides another air-conditioned environment to beat the heat in the summer months. This inspired by the Las Vegas Sphere, would be a great adaptation of a musical performance, and also ties in with the mythical theme of the land. In this show broken up into 7 acts - each one transitions so well into the next, with the finale ascent to heaven being a wonderful way to cap off the show of both edutainment value and cultural significance.

Mahabharata: Quest for the Gandiva Bow
Again the attention to history detail here in this attraction is on full display. This attraction is also greatly suited as a follow-up to many of Universal's Jurassic Park water ride attractions and using that format I think facilitates this attraction on a grand yet believable scale. A subtle touch but the use of various languages from Marathi, Hindi, Gujarati, Bengali) added an incredible depth of realism to this project and something not yet seen before in any attraction. The flow of the attraction is great from the lush Khandava Forest to the more intense Nagas scenes and ultimately to the Gandiva Bow, all of these create a great attraction that would be sure to be popular with the locals.

Bringing over Mythos from Islands of Adventure, seeing as it's a 10_ hour plane ride away is a nice touch as it's going to be rare for someone to dine at both, but even if they do, it's one of the most well-renown restaurants it deserves to be cloned here.

Sunshine Gardens
Inside the trunk of a Pomegranate tree - a nice referance to the Enhanced Oak Tavern) is a great compliment piece to the land. Would love to try the Dhokla!

Bipin's Pre-Owned Boons Emporium
Love the creativity behind this name - a nice original character to the area and one that will for sure sell some merchandise and be an icon of the park for years to come.

UNIVERSAL'S WORLDS OF WONDER

THE LOST WORLD

@Earlie the Pearlie @PerGron @Tegan pilots a chicken

Love the map by Earlie to give a sense of the land and also implying the possibility for future expansion and designing that into the land itself. This is a new type of Jurassic Park land and I'm gland considering how Port Mythica took the template for the old Jurassic Park lands in other Universal Parks and made it their land - this is something entirely new which I was excited about!

Jurassic Park Visitor's Center
I like the walkthrough exhibit featuring Mr DNA - this definitely gives EPCOT vibes to it. Cretaceous Collectables also gives a nice area for merchandise as well.

The Lost World Station
Unless I missed it this is the first time a Station has been described for the Orient Express. This can be a detail hammered out in the future, but this is an elevated train that takes you around the various lands? I feel like this might be better served on the outskirts of each land to provide a longer journey than inside the park but again that'll be for another time.

Jurassic Park Jeep Safari
Taking inspiration from both the film and the novel, this EMV attraction is a great way ti distinguish itself from prior JP lands and gives a sense of the authentic Jurassic Park experience. It basically takes the pages of the book and the film and puts you in the action. Great job!

Prehistoric Palate
This premade food area offering edutainment value and a quick bite to eat - nice job!

Air Jurassic
This D Ticket simulator does something again that is unique for a Jurassic Park land - a simulator. This offers another element from the novel/film that showcases the areal perspective of the land - something we have not seen before!

Employee Dino-Storehouse/Hammond's Bungalow
Both of these rounding out the land very well - I've always wanted to have dinner in the Bungalow seen in the film!

----------------------------------------

IMAGINATION HARBOR
@CookieMouse @WaltWiz1901 @Pi on my Cake @ThemeParkPriest @Brer Panther

Love how it starts as a children's book and the map is great as well! Simple yet gets the point across very well Another great addition by @Architectural Guinea Pig

BusyTown
Railway Stories with Thomas
Growing up with Thomas the Tank Engine this was a welcome addition to the land - I almost would have wanted this to be more than a meet-and-greet and almost an attraction in and of itself on the Island of Sodor.

Elwood City Library
From Arthur's Adventures - another classic from the childhood, this is a great way to tie in Arthur with the literature theme of the park.

The Very Hungry Caterpillar
Wonderful attraction here by @Brer Panther - who is usually known for his artwork, this shines through his writing capabilities as well! The Caterpillar Cocoon is also a nice healthy snack location as well.

Where The Wild Things Are
This is a unique attraction as well that I wasn't expecting to see in this park - but I am very glad it is here. The descriptions of the scenes are very well done and I do like how this part has a variety of boat related attractions.

Frog and Toad - this busbar dark ride is a great small addition to the area offering another attraction aimed at young children. And I like secondly how all of these are classical stories of childhood so they will continue to be unique for years to come.

Willy Wonka's Factory Adventure
I think this captured the spirit of the novel very well - I really like the creativity and passion behind this project that was seen from early on in the brainstorming and was taken forward into the finished project.

I know there were some elements of this part of the land that didn't make it out of the brainstorming PM such as the Pigeon Drive the Bus flat ride, but reading back through that, it would have been a nice addition and can always be considered part of the finished project once I'm able to complete the finished map.

Overall, this park gets a 10/10 - an incredible start to the season and something that everyone involved should be proud of!

Before we decided on basing our lands around genres with multiple IPs within rather than one IP for each genre, I had actually wanted to do more with Thomas - specifically making the Island of Sodor one of our more family-skewering lands.

Perhaps I should work on it as a side-project, whether as part of Universal Studios Japan's Universal Wonderland in an alternate universe or another IoA-style park like the one we just concocted...

Remind me to upload photos in the Hype Thread. I got to see some of the Season 6 onward Thomas models run while I was in Japan.

Hello friends! It has come to our attention that the link to the script is taking you to a page asking for a sign in. It appears to behave differently depending on your browser or what device you're using so to make things easier, here is a PDF version of it! Sorry for this, it was working fine for all of us on the browser and devices we were on so we didn't catch it.

Thanks to all three teams - I am reading the projects now and will hopefully be able to post the official reviews when I get home. It feels like all 3 of these projects represent different eras of Epcot, with Heimlichen representing the more classic 80s Epcot, Akuades representing the 90s era of Epcot, and Tintirrino representing today's era of Epcot

A few clean up points

- There were no appointed Project Managers this round however reviewing the brainstorming, it feels like @OSUPhantom for Team Akuades, @PerGron for Team Heimlichen, and @Earlie the Pearlie for Team Tintirrino were the unofficial guides of this round. If not please correct it, but I say that so they get the credit this round and in the future, I will assign the Project Managers (as this was more of an experiment) but I'll make sure to spread around the offers to other teammates.
- While there will be no official 'board room' elimination decision this round, we will be saying good-bye to @dreamfinding from Team Akuades due to inactivity. We thank you so much for your initial enthusiasm for the game but due to the vast cast and all the participation so far this feels like a fair decision. You're more than welcome to stick around as a guest reviewer as well to continue to be involved.
- With that move, @Shannoninthemagic will be moving to Team Akuades to start Book III

After posting the reviews, I'll try my best to get Book III up and going in a timely fashion this morning.

Thanks for all the energy and 'spark' this round and hope you enjoy what's in store for the future!

Due to some confusion about whether PM had to submit (mostly on my part), we credited @Architectural Guinea Pig as PM in our presentation. I do think organizing this round was kind of a shared effort between us and @Disney Dad 3000 , and I’d be amiss to not credit/thank them here!

THE SPIRIT OF INNOVENTION

I really like the angle you took with this having the backdrop of the attraction being the World's Fair, focusing on the history of EPCOT, and having Walt Disney himself essentially be the spirit of the attraction. I thought that was a strong introduction to the project, and following through with the queue being a pseudo One Man's Dream for EPCOT as well as having an animatronic Walt, it was truly an incredible start.

In addition, the concept art for the pavilion itself would add such a unique presence to the skyline of Epcot. While I'm not sure how tall the structure would be, having it in front of Imagination from the plaza would be quite an interesting vantage point. That, the Land, and the Microverse on the western side of Epcot would be quite the architectural delight.

Lumy and Ivan feel like classic 90s Epcot characters. Something akin to the relationship between Nigel and Figment, bringing life and charm to the attraction. That being said, it does feel like the story in the queue, focusing on Walt Disney and EPCOT, then suddenly takes a turn towards a different type of attraction entirely. For all the setup of Walt in the queue, we then deviate to an invention by Ivan and are guided by Lumy and him through time to meet eclectic innovators from various time periods.

I feel like the queue could have simply focused on Ivan and Lumy from the beginning, similar to the Journey into Imagination queue, and that way there could have been a more natural transition. Because while each of the individuals in the scenes such as Maelzel, Alcott, and even Wes Anderson, serve a purpose to show how their crafts have transitioned through time, it didn't relate back to Disney nor did it really have to given that the show itself feels like its own thing. That's my only real suggestion for the future is that I think the script is incredibly innovative and would fit a (perhaps) temporary 5-10 year run of a show in the center of Epcot, but the queue could have better tied into the show itself. Perhaps it could have been inspired by the buildings of the Worlds Fair on the surface, but then delve into Ivan and Lumy from there.

Overall though, this was a great effort and something that you all should be proud of and continue forward into the next round!

LUMINOUS: THE STORY OF US

I love how connected the title is to the spirit of this project. While I was initially concerned about a Disney Adventure situation with multiple 'light' inspired characters, at least this main character's name was 'Sparky' lol

While I like the naturalistic aspect to the entrance of the land, will that carry 360 degrees around the pavilion? From the map, which is very well done btw, it looks like the facade is only in the front in the map. I love the Fountain of Light and the restoration of a fountain in the center of that area of the park. Once inside the cave, the ambiance is described very well. In regards to the theater description however, it took me a couple reads to get the mechanics down, and even them I'm still not 100% sure how it works. From what it sounds like, it's a similar theater style to the Carousel of Progress, however I'm not sure what the second stage behind the audience's function is.

The main highlight of this project for me is the song, coupled with the incredible script. The combo of ingenuity truly made this project come alive in ways I wasn't expecting. While some of the scenes on the surface felt a little derivative of Spaceship Earth, particularly the cave scene, Renaissance, and the earth scene, the narration from Sparky and the detailed script filled out the scenes to feel entirely different even though it was describing similar time periods. This combo of song-writing and script-writing truly did make this project stand out and everyone involved should be proud. And I should note, credit to Lizzy for the drawings of each scene. They don't have to be elaborate pieces of art to be recognized for what they are as custom artwork truly does make projects feel more original and this does that in style.

bd4Jvq5.png

FANTASIA 2024

Love the poster design for this and the website coupled with both the piano and orchestra scores is absolutely incredible. There was a lot of attention and detail put into why Fantasia was placed in the middle of Epcot and I definitely respect the efforts into how and why it fits the spirit of Epcot, which on the surface definitely threw me for a loop. However it was justified well and fits the spirit of what Epcot stood and moreover the brutalist futurism design of the pavilion incorporates it well into the original intentions of the Epcot design.

The theater description itself as well as the statistics on the show are much appreciated. While I love the maps I do thank you for giving credit to Park Lore as that seems to be where the original layout of the map came from with some Tintirrino adjustments.

As mentioned before the original music in this is phenomenal and as an admirer of the 94 version of Spaceship Earth, including some of the music that inspired that score was a nice little easter egg. And the icon of the pavilion being strings I think was a nice touch. For what its worth I think @Earlie the Pearlie 's first design was incredible and I truly appreciated the teamwork and constructive feedback that could be given without taking offense and then working together as a team to come up with the best design they could. That is exactly what these games are about.

Speaking of constructive, the only thing I would say about this sequence of stories is that I almost wish for a new version of Fantasia that you went with entirely new scenes. I loved the abstract portions as well as the nuanced versions for each Epcot festival, I almost wish you stuck with that through and through because then the repeat scenes from the original Fantasia almost felt out of place ironically. Perhaps for the future I'd consider going all in on the nuanced scenes to truly make it something to stand on its own. That said, the finale Sorcerer's Apprentice scene was incredibly written and would be an epic conclusion to any show.

-------
Thank you to all teams - this was truly an incredibly close round. I think an argument could be made for all of these teams to win. So don't get too high or low as we still have a long ways to go in the game and more significant rounds ahead as we are advancing to Book III

BOOK II RESULTS

House Akuades: You had a wonderfully innovative script and a great Worlds Fair inspired queue, I just wish the two connected a little bit more which could have given it the edge.

House Tintirrino: A bold choice of Fantasia coupled with an incredibly designed website, poster, and musical scores. It was so close and you should be proud, but I wish there was more focus on the new scenes to put it over the edge.

House Heimlichen: The original song coupled with the incredible script gave it the win. On the surface in the doc it may look like Spaceship Earth, but in the script you truly distinguished it as something to stand on its own. @Mr. Sullivan truly had a standout performance this round

"Look at these slides" @Lord Fozzinator said "It's almost like Universal copied this project for Volcano Bay"

"Volcano Bat?" @AceAstro retorted. "We don't want to speak his name!"

The teams then traveled around the Seven Seas Lagoon on the Walt Disney World Monorail

As they were riding the monorail around the lagoon, @Disney Dad 3000 was on his phone and noticed something peculiar "Hey since when did Disney buy the AdventureDome in Las Vegas? This is news?"

"Must be in retaliation to Universal's Worlds of Wonder" @WaltWiz1901 mentioned "Disney always playing catch up"

"Well we know what that means..." @Pi on my Cake said as the teams noticed a portal open at the end of the monorail train with a sign that said 'Las Vegas' shining in bright neon colors "here we go..."

And the teams transitioned to their next challenge...
