I would find that hard to believe because like @Voxel mentioned the other day with the Test Track tarp, it's easier to leave something than replace/remove it.

I don't think the monorail as a whole will be out of commission anytime soon.

Bingo, Monorail is too Iconic. There is a reason the monorail is in the condition it is in without updates. I'll leave it with that. It's a topic that isn't as grim as people like to think it is.

As much as that door situation was horrible for Disney maintenance there was a clickbait article from a new site that claimed disney was shutting down the Epcot monorail. There would be no reason for that

It also seemed last week like half the fleet got a refurb, new paint/interior -- but there's another half that is dirty and old.

These are normal steps for an large expenditure. You don't just install automation for the line to be shutdown and you don't buy new monorails than retrofit them with the automation systems..
