The slide in AK lodge...

...Really needs to be worked on m thinks.

The problem is, it's just too short, and it's just a slide through a bunch of trees, so, here's my idea for it.

It would be called the Tree of Life slide. Basically it's a trunk that's supposedly attached to the TOL over at AK. The new slide would go through the insides of the trunk, passing through various animal carvings, would include Triceratops, Dragons, Unicorns, Vampire squids, etc.

I love how this thread armchair Imagineers such an obscure issue! :ROFLOL: We've seen threads for Imagination, World Showcase pavilions, Camp Minnie-Mickey/BK, and now the water slide at AKL.

That's good though. The small things are just as important to the show as the big things, and I agree that the AKL's water slide is kind of lame.

I'm kind of surprised they didn't have a bigger slide given that its a deluxe resort. Even CBR has the awesome fort slide.

Quick story on AKL slide:

I was visiting several years back with my mother and sister. They were relaxing by the pool and I said I'd try the slide a few times. I go up the stairs and there are about 5 young kids there while I was 21 at the time. I wait patiently for them to go, then take my turn and run it again. Finding it a bit tame, twice is enough and I go back to hang out at the chairs. My mother then tells me she could see me at the top and couldn't figure out while I was waiting until she saw some little kid pop out the bottom of the slide every so often. They were all too little to be seen waiting, but I'm sure they had fun on it.

I agree that the slides at AKL and WL are somewhat on the small side. I don't really understand what the logic was, especially at AKL where the pool area is very large and very open. While the AKL pool just underwent a minor refurb a few months ago, I could see a major refurb being in the works at the resort nears its 10th anniversary.

I was amazingly underwhelmed

with AKL slide and the pool in general. It has to be one of the lamest pools on property. I know they've got the whole animals everywhere thing going on but shouldn't a deluxe resort be deluxe all the way around? :shrug:

The year after we stayed at AKL we stayed at PORS for the first time and I have to say that pool was 20 times nicer in all facets. Aside from the lobby and general architechture of the building which is beautiful -For the money AKL just isn't worth it, I'd definitley do any of the moderates over AKL and put the extra dough in my pocket. Uh... Wait...why am I getting all upset about AKL and suggesting moderate resorts????!!!?? we were just talking about the slide right? sorry.

While the AKL slide definitely leaves a lot to be desired... the new one over at Kidani ROCKS! I like it even more than the one at Stormalong Bay. Nice thing is, Jambo House resort guests can pool hop right over to Kidani and check it out.
