Electronic Arts has announced an EP to their best selling game ever.

Sims 2 to Expand: Sims 2 University in the Works!
The Sims are going to college. Pillowfights and togas on tap!

REDWOOD CITY, Calif. - November 22, 2004-Electronic Arts (NASDAQ: ERTS) announced today that EA's Maxis(TM) Studio is developing The Sims(TM) 2 University, the first expansion pack for the highly-acclaimed The Sims 2 PC game. The Sims 2 University will ship this March and gives players of The Sims 2 the ability to watch their Sims become young adults and put childhood behind them as they settle into an all-new college town to live out their ultimate college fantasy.

Sinjin Bain, Executive Producer and Maxis Vice President, highlights the company's commitment to its loyal following, "We are thrilled to open up a whole new stage of life for the Sims, allowing players to lead them through all the challenges of college and living the exciting university lifestyle of the dorms, parties and exams. This title is also the first in a line of expansion packs that will address our players' desires, further develop The Sims 2 franchise and continually expand the world of the Sims creating almost endless gameplay and storytelling possibilities."

In The Sims 2 University players for the first time will play through the new "young adult" life stage as their Sims head off to college and join the campus crowd. Whether they live in the dorms or rush a fraternity or sorority that's just the beginning...Sims can choose from one of 11 majors and by keeping their grades on track, they'll secure a final degree and open up 4 new career paths. Players will enjoy all-new college based wants and fears that are tied to their Sims' social life and academic goals which will lead to new rewards and powers that will help them achieve their goals and aspirations in college and beyond.

Pranks, parties and college social interactions add to the excitement while your Sims explore campus locations such as college lounges, pool halls, gyms and coffee houses. As in real life, if your Sims start running low on funds, they can earn Simoleans by picking up a part time job, like tutoring, or engaging in riskier affairs like printing money as a member of the "secret society."

Of course, making the right decisions can lead to your Sim to the ultimate goal of becoming "Big Sim on Campus" in The Sims 2 University.

The Sims 2 University will ship under the EA GAMES(TM) brand. The Sims 2 is required to play The Sims 2 University.

I just started playing The Sims 2 and I think that the University Expansion will be pretty cool to try out. I think its funny that you can have streakers in that game.

Sweet, I can't wait. Hopefully they'll re-add some of the features in Sims past that aren't in SIms 2, like the restaurant feature.

Sadly restaurants aren't in it. :(

BUT! We get vanitys and mini-fridges for the dorms. :)

Now I can recreate Animal House!

I'm having a blast with my "Jim Kirk" character. Romance aspirations and has half the women that he's met falling in love with him and agreeing to the "Woo-Hoo!" option. And since he keeps meeting aspiration goals, he keeps getting enough to buy the Elixer of Life over and over, so he may never age fully. I also downloaded the Alienware "Everything-But-the-Saucer" Computer for my sim from the Sims2 website. :D

I love that computer. I also downloaded the Menorah, the Christmas Tree, the Kwanzaa Kinara, and the room divider. I put all of my downloaded objects in a special category I call "Maxis Downloads"

Well, since I can't own and Alienware compy in real life, I might as well let my Sims enjoy them.

Btw, did you look at the new video they have for Sims2 University with the "Cowplant?" It's a freakin' riot!

That cowplant is so cool!

Oh, the themes for the expansion are...

1. Frat- Dingy linoleum, raggedy furniture, Greek Letters
2. Groovy- Take a trip back to the '60s and '70s
3. Goth-ish- Perfect for decorating a secret society

Okay, now that it's been out for a few days, has anyone picked it up? I just got it today and I'm already having a blast. I'm sending my first character through Psychology Major path so that I can get the Paranormal profession. Once I've gotten her through I'll make a Natural Scientist so I can get the Cowplant thing.

Edit: Oh, and I'm now looking forward to Sims 2: Nightlife which is advertised on the case for S2U. If that's an actual vampire chick, then that makes it all the more interesting looking to play.

I don't have it yet, mostly because the comp. TS2 runs on is busted, and Disk 1 is in it. Ugh...

Nitelife? Are you sure? There's no mention of it on the website...

I got it the day it came out and it is freeking amazing. I have almost one person for every major by now. Its really cool and I really love the new Groovy themeing.

As for Night Life, they do advertize it. It looks like its going to be the Hot Date of Sims two. It doesnt say much about it, just that the there looks like their going to give us restruants and nightclubs. and that its comeing out this Fall.

Yep. I'm sure that's what it reads as on the back of my CD case for TS2U. I read a bit about the bonuses of having a sim that gets a college degree. It turns out that you can start at higher levels for your career track. If your stats qualify then you could potentially start all the way up at level 7 on the career track or possibly up to level 9. You will likely start at least at level 2 or 3. And it turns out that the Natural Scientist or whatever the new science track is, upon reaching level 10 for his career, only works one day and gets over 10,000 simoleons for it.

The Sims 2 University Expansion Pack got me obssessed with The Sims 2 again. :) I especially love the music. I was afraid it wouldn't be as good as the original's. Bet you didn't know this, but the music is composed by Mark Mothersbaugh. For those of you who don't know him, he composes music for movies and television, but is most notable as the lead singer of Devo.

Yes, the Secret Society is actually not too difficult to get into, you just have to keep your eyes open for the people wearing blazers with a small llama logo on their chest. When you see them, talk to and make friends with them. Once you have made friends with three of them, you will be handcuffed, blindfolded and dragged out to a limo. The limo will take you to the Secret Society.
