The youtube video was removed, here's another link to the on-ride video:

:)

1) Obvious jabs at Disney World rides - Check
2) Two blatantly obvious references to Back to the Future - Check
3) Jabs at Sea World - Ch...huh?

Looks very predictable. I was waiting for the BTTF reference and I knew exactly what it'd be, and there it was. How many simulators that take jabs at Disney will Universal put in the park? Between this and Shrek, the rides are slowly all becoming parodies of 'that other place'.

My GF and I rode it today and loved it. I think Universal did a great job with the ride and obviously The Simpsons creative staff did an awesome job with the writing and the animation for the queue. We had a blast. The ride was smooth and funny. The special effects were pretty cool including a smell you have never had on any ride I have been on. This is gonna be great summer here in Orlando with this ride and TSM at DHS and I get to ride them whenever I want.

FYI,

It's now officially open. Apparently the "Coming Soon" portion of local billboards now say, "Now Open."

Also, The Orlando Sentinel did a small writeup on it.

Simpsons Ride opens at Universal Studios

Theme park guests are boarding the Simpsons Ride, the newest attraction at Universal Studios in Orlando. The bright yellow billboards for the ride, based on characters from the Fox animated series, have changed wording from "coming soon" to "now open." A grand opening is set for next month.

The motion-simulator ride takes passengers on a rollicking tour of the fictional Krustyland theme park. Voices and characters from the television series are used as the Simpson family encounters long waits, rides gone amok, perilous snacks and an escaped con.

The Simpsons Ride replaces Back to the Future: The Ride, also a motion simulator, in the World Expo area of the park.

Yet it's only running at half capacity and still has the technical rehearsals sign in front of the attraction. I think this is a case of marketing wanting to capatilize on the opportunity to fib a bit and say it's open.

I saw part of a video of the ride and it's hard to miss that Pirates of the Caribbean reference (even with Sideshow Bob appearing on the waterfall).

With all the dinosaur pirates malfuncitioning, I think it's also a reference to that line in Jurassic Park ("When Pirates of the Caribbean breaks down, the pirates don't eat the turists").

I also read that in one of the preshows, Krusty mentions how he got of engineers from the other competitor theme parks to come and work for him (just like the story of Imagineers getting fired/defecting from Disney and working for Universal and bringing over the Dragons roller coaster concept from Beastly Kingdom and building it in Islands of Adventure).

Just saw a new commercial for the ride advertising that it is "Now Open!" so hopefully they have worked all the kinks out for Guest Services sake.

2D, but the attraction movie itself is CGI, not drawn animation, which is probably where the confusion comes from

Have you been on it? From what I've heard it's awesome and on a par with Spider Man.

Definitely not. I'd wait 30 minutes for Spiderman, I wouldn't wait 30 minutes to ride the Simpsons again. The theming was great, and I liked that they had Flat Screen TV's playing Simpsons clips as we were waiting. But honestly, I think the ride itself is over rated. I wasn't enthralled, and I didn't get off going, "I WANT TO DO THAT AGAIN!" like I do with the Hulk. That's just my $.02.
